This is definitely a record that would be very tough to be surpassed in months to come. Dangal brought in Rs. 1.01 crore on Tuesday, which was practically the last day for it to score well before biggies Raees and Kaabil took over. So what makes this a record? Well, the film has been practically discontinued from almost all screens (barring a few shows running in some theatres) due to two new biggies arriving and that, when it is collecting over 1 crore per day since its release. This doesn't happen for any film but for Dangal this is happening since it has in any case overrun its capacity. The film has already scored Rs. 383.10 crore since its release and this is way beyond what one expected from it when it released. Still, fabulous word of mouth followed by poor competition meant that that there was no stopping the Aamir Khan starrer as it went on an overdrive.
The film will see a steep fall from this point on and would wrap up around the Rs. 385 crore mark. However, it can now be said that if not for the competition from the new biggies, it could well have made a dash towards the Rs. 390 crore mark. Yes, I too have been guilty of drafting different expectations from the film with every passing week but then that has been the scenario with the Nitish Tiwari directed film. It has been lapped up the audiences in such a big way that every week there is one or the other surprise around footfalls that are just spectacular.
