Despite an extended holiday weekend, Border 2 held on quite well on Tuesday, what with more than Rs. 20 crores coming in. Typically, after bountiful collections during a weekend when there is a big national holiday, films do slow down on the day thereafter. However, in case of Border 2, it was just like a regular weekday drop as collections went from Rs. 32.10 on Friday to Rs. 23.31 crores on Tuesday.
The film rightfully didn’t opt for Blockbuster Tuesday option as it’s as it is doing quite well and doesn’t need such offers to entice audience. The same strategy was followed by Dhurandhar as well and that film too took the offer route only after a few weeks. This makes sense and one hopes that more and more films follow this route instead of opting for such offers as that only ends up diverting audience’s movie watching habit and that’s not really required as it would do more harm than good in the long run.
Coming to Border 2, the film has now also entered the Rs. 200 Crore Club in just 5 days, though it was actually close to doing that in 4 days flat when a massive Rs. 193.48 crores had already been accumulated. Nonetheless, the film now stands at Rs. 216.79 crores and there is so much more waiting to be explored, especially in the second week too when Mardaani 3 is the only competition. The first week should close around Rs. 250 crores mark and then Rs. 300 Crore Club entry would be through before the close of second weekend itself.
