Finally, it’s time for a new film to arrive in theatres. It’s practically 4 weeks since theatres saw the release of a new Bollywood film and that has starved the audience of new entertainment other than Dhurandhar The Revenge. In fact, last four months have seen only the two Dhurandhar movies and Border 2 do big numbers, which goes on to show how the industry really needs something new to work at the box office.
Bhooth Bangla is special since it sees Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan come together, and audiences is anyways looking forward to them repeating Bhool Bhulaiyaa magic. The set-up is similar and the promotion and marketing has been aggressive as well. Early reports for the film are quite good and so far indications are that it would take a good start.
Tonight, the film arrives on Paid Previews and that should bring in Rs. 3-4 crores. The full-fledged release takes place tomorrow and that should bring in further Rs. 13-14 crores. As a result, an overall first day of Rs. 16-18 crores is on the cards, which should set it up well for good growth over the weekend if the reports are positive. For the sake of the industry, one just hopes that a solid entertainer is delivered, so that there is good momentum resumed at the box office.
