What a week it has turned out to be at the box office. Animal arrived, it roared and then it conquered. Just when audiences are warming up to the film and realizing what has hit them, the film has already done business of close to Rs. 350 crores and in the process ended up smashing quite a few records. This can well be seen from the fact that after notching up big half centuries on each of the three days during the weekend, the film went on to stay over Rs. 30 crores mark on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and then on Thursday too stayed around Rs. 25 crores.
The Ranbir Kapoor starrer collected Rs. 24.13 crores more on Thursday and this could well have been a couple of crores more if not for the Rajasthan situation and the weather conditions down south. In fact this also impacted collections on Wednesday and as a result the overall numbers are around 3-4 crores lesser. That said, the film has been over-performing in a very huge way and it would be the second weekend that will decide that whether Animal will be primarily chasing the 500 crores mark or the collections will end up competing with Gadar 2 and Pathaan.
So far, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed film has collected 338.63 crores in its first week and that's lesser than Jawan [369.43 crores] but more than Pathaan [330.25 crores] and much ahead of Gadar 2 [284.63 crores]. That's actually enough for that dash towards the 500 crores mark since there is no new major release till Dunki arrives on 21st December, which means the stage is wide open for Animal to perform well.
