Simple but emotionally gut-wrenching film. Every performance (barring,in my opinion, the father's) is note-perfect. For a change, a hindi film that portrays children as they really are. Darsheel gives an unbelievable performance that is deserving of every award & accolade. Aamir is great as an actor but absolutely outstanding as a director & story-teller. Tisca Chopra is a revelation. Every member of the supporting cast is very good as well. The father, like Taran says,is a bit over-the-top but that is a small blemish in an otherwise superb film. Apart from this, the only other negative would be the length which, especially in the first half, could be trimmed by about 5 or so minutes.

This is the fisrt ever modern indian film which you can say - PERFECT! Taran is right during all his Review of this film but wrong at last, it's not 4/5 but 5/5 !! As this film will make history in hindi cinema after "Mother India" film. It shows and define and prooves,"What is called CLASS film?!" If you are hindi movie lovers and miss this one then never say yourself hindi movie lover. It catches you from first scene to last scene. And may be this film is not for CHEAP AUDIENCE, because they will not understand the purpose of the film. But people like Taran can understand why it is a MASTER PIECE OF INDIAN CINEMA! WOW Aamir has shown, " Why is the best, perfect, out of the box - Actor !!" He is not MASALA/CHEAP actor or performer but he is TOM HANK of Indian Cinema. Aamir as an actor...at present nobody is there to compare with you. May be Kamal Hassan/Dilip Kumar/Tom Hank/Nasarrudin Shah...but you are front of that list man!! Aamir Tuje Salaam...no words to descibe. May be Taran has taken all my words!! Thank you for such a film. The Kid perform finest ever as child actor, Salute to you Mr.Safari !!! Go and watch the film and then believe.

Since most you are already aware of the story, let me straight away get into the performance and other details. Master Darsheel Safary as Ishaan Awasthi is excellent. His expressions and body language are just perfect. You will fall in love with him within a few seconds after the movie starts. His transformation from a naughty, full-of-life boy to a silent, depressed boy just touches you so much that even the stone-hearted would melt. This is a performance that not only beats every debutant’s performance this year but is way above the best of performances of 2007. Tisca Chopra is natural to the core. It is a performance that any mother can identify with. Vipin Sharma as the father, Sachet Engineer as the brother and Tanay Cheda as the friend are perfect. Aamir Khan, the actor, is brilliant as always. He plays a cool and sensitive art teacher to perfection. His dialogues have a strong impact. Most of his dialogues pass on a positive message. He manages doing it so beautifully and not even once goes “over-the-topâ€. Some of his dialogues and scenes are clap-worthy. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy-Prasoon deserves credit to make some of the most soul-stirring music heard in recent times. When you watch the songs on screen, you just fall in love with it more. The title track and “Maa†song will give you goosebumps. The background music elevates the mood of the film. Again, it’s not the typical loud and over-the-top background music that we normally hear nowadays. It is just perfect for the film. Cinematography by Setu is first-rate. It captures every moment very beautifully. Amole Gupte’s script is beautiful and flawless. He deserves full marks for his writing. The strength of the script lies in its attention to detail and the smaller things in life. The way it takes you through a kid’s mind is a work of an accomplished writer. Aamir Khan, the director, has arrived with a bang!!! He has directed a movie that could well be termed as one of India’s best movies. It could even do what Lagaan couldn’t. TZP could have ended up bad, if it were in wrong hands. But in Aamir’s hands, it ended up a masterpiece. The vision, the message, the performances, the dialogues, the music, the background music, the colour and the impact is so pure and uplifting. Managing to extract and mix all these elements in a movie and pacing it perfectly is no easy feat. TZP is a work of a genius. His intentions with this movie were honest. His work is pure magic yet simple. No exaggerated emotions, no melodrama, no unwanted tracks, just cinema at its best. Aamir takes you through the joys, imagination, sorrows, fears and thoughts that of the child easily, and at times you feel so engrossed that you don’t want to move a muscle so as not to move a particular emotion. Aamir Khan is in a league of his own. His mastery over the craft will leave you speechless. It is only after the end credits roll, you realize that 2 hours and 45 minutes have passed. Aamir Khan has done it yet again! TZP makes you look at children differently. It gives the message that a child should not necessarily be high-scoring to be termed intelligent. Every child has his or her own ability that needs to be nurtured. It is the love of parents that can have major impact on the child’s development and his self-confidence. The movie makes you smile, laugh, cry, think, get nostalgic and finally look at things in a different manner. TZP isn’t preachy, it’s simple and pure. It touches your heart in a subtle manner. It can make the biggest of hunks shed tears by taking them to a trip down memory lane. You can identify with the characters so much that you feel that you are watching a reflection of your own childhood. TZP is a modern day classic. It is India’s answer to “Life is Beautifulâ€. This movie can challenge any movie of world cinema. Aamir has defined and re-defined (and re-re-defined) the rules with which movies can be made in India. TZP easily ranks as one of the best of Hindi Cinema. Rating: 10/10

Welcome is about gangsters, an auction house, a botched wedding, some re-unions Anil-Nana( Last seen Parinda 1989), Feroz-Anil ( Last seen Jaanbaaz 1986) and first hand combos(Akshay-Mallika, Akshay-Nana, Akshay- FK , sharing the screen space for the first time) . Some scenes though entirely lifted from Hugh Grant's Micky Eye Blues and some from the more recent caper Shaadi ke pehle, Welcome still brings in a whiff of comic freshness alongwith some whacky one-liners ( best lines reserved for Nana , Anil and partly Paresh). Story quite obvious from the promos has funny but lengthy sequences in the first half with a few note-worthy ones( Anil-Akki meeting at the traffic signal, Anil's painting display to Nana, Ploy by Anil-Nana to trap Paresh and Akshay into a wed-lock, Akki's outburst with Anil after meeting with Nana.) First hour at best can be described as funny but replete with long sequences and show-stoppers which come in the form of songs ( hoth raseelay and Akshay-Katrina's first song with some kaal lokaa varee lyrics are not required at all). Second half brings in FK, Mallika and the supremely talented Vijay Raaz , two good songs and whackier comedy as compared to the frst half ( Nana playing a kaandawaala, Nana on the horse-back, the entire crematorium sequence). The climax could have been much more funnier Dubai is becoming a prominent feature in all Feroz Nadiadwala movies now- ( Deewane Hue Paagal, Fool and Final and now Welcome) and gives Welcome the glossy look. Only the title track Welcome, Tiyaa Tiyaa and Inshaallah (only be'coz of FK, Nana, Anil and Akki together) are worth a view out of the five tracks. Movie clearly belongs to Anil in the first half and Nana in the second half with FK and Mallika doing the extended cameos. Paresh is whacky in bits and pieces but relegated to the backseat. Akshay's role has nothin new to offer to his fans and they are in for a disappointment this time round ( though the film will surely do above average business) . How one wishes that Akshay's dialogues, one-liners and role could have been better handled ??( One would not even dream of fitting in a Shahrukh or a Hrithik or an Aamir in such a poorly written role; Remember Akshay belongs to the same league or maybe even bigger !!!.) Katrina looks hot, Mallika hotter and FK's the hottest of the lot. Neverthless with all its blemishes, its still worth a watch for its megacast, for Anee Bazmee's handling of comic stuff and for the screen chemistry shared by all possible combos Nana-Anil, Nana-Akshay Anil-Akshay etc. Id and Christmas well help manage the movie's business afloat in the first week but the second week will face stiff weather from Taare Zameen par which will start doing better after a strong word-of-mouth.

The Child Darsheel has been given almost all the responsibility of the film... And he gave outstanding performance... I am willing to see him growing up and become a huge star... Well, the film gives us Nostalgia throughout the film... And also, 5 stars to the Actor Turned Producer Turned Director...None Other Than Mr.Aamir Khan!!! Really superb film...
