Events from Mahatma Gandhi-led agitation against the British-imposed 1930 Salt Act, as well as the 1931 Martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, did influence young Ram (Shashi Kapoor) so much so that wanted to follow in the footsteps of Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru, much to the chagrin of his Police Officer father, Raibahadur Dwarkadass (Chandra Mohan), who wanted him to complete his ICS and take up law as a profession. After growing up Ram (Dilip Kumar) does join freedom fighters led by Guruji (Raj Adib) and loots a train, injuring himself in the process. His childhood friend and aspiring doctor, Sheela (Baby Anwari/Kamini Kaushal) helps him dress the wound - but his father finds out and asks him to leave. Hoping to connect later with Sheela and ask her to marry him - Ram will instead be confronted by ASP Vinod - who informs him that Sheela is now his wife and has turned vital information against him and his group. An enraged Ram is all set to confront Sheela to try and find out why she betrayed him. Author: rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)
