Pyaar Zindagi Hai Review {2.0/5} & Review Rating

B.M.B.'s PYAAR ZINDAGI HAI, directed by Vijay Sadanah, is a love story.

Vikas Kalantri and Ashima Bhalla fall in love, after initial trepidation from the latter. Everything is hunky-dory till Ashima receives a call from her brother-in-law (Mohnish Bahl) informing her that her sister is dead, leaving an infant behind. Ashima and her father (Rajesh Khanna) move to Mohnish's house, after Mohnish insists that they look after the infant while he concentrates on work.

Little do Rajesh Khanna and Ashima realise that it is Mohnish's evil plan to marry Ashima. When Mohnish learns of Ashima's affair with Vikas Kalantri, he creates hurdles for them.

Made in a shoe-string budget, which is evident throughout, PYAAR ZINDAGI HAI suffers due to a weak script. Director Vijay Sadanah, who worked wonders in Bokadia's blockbuster PYAR JHUKTA NAHIN (Mithun Chakraborty-Padmini Kolhapure), is not in element this time.

The only saving grace of the enterprise is the twist in its story, wherein Mohnish, the brother-in-law, gets obsessed with Ashima, his sister-in-law. Otherwise, the story meanders on the beaten path, which doesn't excite the viewer one bit.

Ashima's sister's murder is well shot, although the screenplay is of convenience. Bali Brahmbhatt's musical score is melodious and two numbers stand out 'Main Chahta Hoon Tujhko Dil-o-Jaan Ki Tarah' and 'Sama Hain Suhana'. Dialogues are commonplace. Cinematography is just about okay.

Vikas Kalantri looks handsome and makes a fairly good debut. Ashima Bhalla needs to be more expressive, although she is quite confident in some scenes. Rajesh Khanna doesn't impress. Mohnish Bahl does justice to the negative role.

On the whole, PYAAR ZINDAGI HAI is an ordinary fare. The film has been tax-exempted in Uttar Pradesh and its business should be better there.
