Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam directed by Sanjay Chel who previously directed movies like Khoobsurat (1999) and Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa (2002) is supposedly a laugh riot. Starring Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose, the lead pair of the hilarious ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’. Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam promises to entertain with the right combination of comedy, romance and thrill. Does it work? Arjun (Rahul Bose) is a secret agent of RAW who is in St Louis on a secret mission to save the country from terrorism. During his free time Arjun watches a theatre drama titled ‘Mughale Azam’ . He falls in love with the lead actress of the show , Shabnam (Mallika Sherawat) who is married to Uday Shankar Mazumdar (Paresh Rawal) the man who portrays the role of Shehenshah Akbar. The movie also has Andaaz Haldi Hassan (Kay Kay Menon), a popular singer with underworld connections. The theatre actors soon get involved in a mission to save the country. Once again like so many movies in the last few weeks let me warn you; don’t expect any sense from Maan Gaye Mughale Azam. It’s a mindless entertainer, an exaggerated slapstick comedy. But there is no denying the fact that the movie has some genuinely funny scenes with hilarious dialogues. The movie is worth a watch just for the scenes involving Paresh Rawal – Mallika Sherawat – Rahul Bose. The chemistry between the three is fantastic. The first few initial reels in the second half are extremely funny. The major problem with Maan Gaye Mughale Azam is the pace which isn’t too great. It starts off very slow and almost nothing happens in the first 15 – 20 mins. The music is average, also worsens the pace. Rahul Bose in a comic role does well as always, great actor. Mallika Sherawat flaunts ample cleavage, her attitude works for her role. Paresh Rawal is brilliant an outstanding actor who never fails in entertaining. Kay Kay Menon was absolutely brilliant in a comic role in Honeymoon Travel Pvt Ltd, is good but not upto his usual high standards. Pawan Malhotra of ‘Black Friday’ fame is good. Rest of the actors are fine. Overall, Maan Gaye Mughale Azam is good in parts but isn’t very consistent. The pace as mentioned above is the problem. Don’t go with any expectations; don’t expect any logic and you might just end up enjoying the movie. Its not for everyone, but should do decent business at the box-office.

I think its quite good movie and if someone is in mood to relax after his/her daily routine work then he/she can enjoy it....as i really enjoyed the movie along my friends but i dont know why it turned out to be complete disaster at box office and even critics didnt like it...however my personal opinion is that its not such bad movie how it was potrayed by media and critics, we can easily enjoy it and its a quite good one....and some what i think its quite better then "Singh Is King" which is total mindless comedy and poor in script...but this movie also drags for few minutes in second half but after that again it gains its comedy pace till its end...so that few mins we have to ignore...Overall quite funny and timepass movie...

Again Paresh Rawal did his best and the same of the great delighted overwhelming sexy actress Mallika Sherawat showing everything of her. All the actors tried their best and the singer...... Pankaj Udhas is the best ever like songs given in this movie. The music is also ok. Overall ok.

Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam is a mad, contemporary comedy involving a drama troupe - Kalakar Natak Company. They produce socially relevant, thought-provoking plays, which no one understands and hardly anyone sees. But the actors of this natak company believe they will change the society one day and everyone will say, 'Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam'. The theatre group gets involved with an undercover agent who is working on saving the country from a bomb blast. One by one they come forward to help and are eventually instrumental in making a deadly game plan to save the world.<BR><BR> From the first few initial reviews, most critics have thrashed Maan Gaye Mughal-e-azam. So I watched it with no expectations and it turned out to be better than it's made out to be. Sure, the sets aren't great and the movie has a B-Grade feel to it but few scenes here and there are rib tickling. The dialogues and performances by the lead actors make the senseless story watchable.<BR><BR> The music by Anu Malik is poor. Seriously, he has been way below average in his last few music albums.<BR><BR> Paresh Rawal, as the lead actor of the theatre group who is married to a hot young babe (Mallika Sherawat) is in top form. The veteran makes you laugh with his mannerisms, expressions and comic timing. Kay Kay Menon for some reason disappoints. Pawan Malhotra is okay.<BR><BR> Rahul Bose can't match Paresh Rawal but does manage to put up a good show. Mallika Sherawat does what she usually does in most of her movies, look hot and flaunt her cleavage to the maximum possible.<BR><BR> To sum things up, Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam is not as bad as I expected it to be. There are a few scenes which make you laugh out loud. Performances are decent. At the box-office, the movie could do better business at the B and C centers. It's a movie more for the masses. More of a DVD watch, so wait for the DVD to be available on rent.

Set in the year 1993 when India witnessed a series of bomb blasts as an aftermath of the Babri Masjid demolition, the spotlight is on a D-company with a difference in the small town of St Louis in Goa.<BR><BR> Maan Gaye Mughall-E Azam is anything but Black Friday but it does pay a tribute to the bloody film on the blasts at the very onset. Jaaved Jaaferi does an Ameen Sayani and narrates the high points of the year 1993 — culturally and politically — setting the stage for this D-company to take centre stage.<BR><BR> Literally. For the D-company in question is a drama company called the Kalakar Natak Company with director Hussain at the helm, and the husband-wife duo of Paresh Rawal and Mallika Sherawat at their rib-tickling best.<BR><BR> Due to unforeseen circumstances — the local don (Pawan Malhotra as ‘Kayyam Cable Maut Ka Label’) and the cop (Manoj Joshi) aren’t happy with their play as it exposes their nexus — the political satire called Jaago India Jaago is forced off the stage and they have to go back to performing their old hit Mughal-E-Azam.<BR><BR> Rahul Bose enters as a smitten fan of Mughal-E-Azam’s Anarkali — Mallika Sherawat — giving rise to some really funny situations involving Paresh, Rahul and Mallika.<BR><BR> And just when you are wondering ‘what next?’, ‘will this go the way of a all-mindless caper about wife cheating husband and falling for a chikna?’ things take a surprise turn.<BR><BR> Things speed up keeping the interest alive with Kay Kay’s entry as Haldi Hassan, a ghazal singer. The character fashioned on Naseeruddin Shah’s Gulfam Hassan in Sarfarosh ends up like the dead municipal commissioner D’Mello played by Satish Shah to perfection in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, complete with Rahul taking the body on a stroll around the park on roller skates.<BR><BR> Writer-director Sanjay Chhel underlines the tribute to the Kundan Shah classic with the onstage caper of Akbar-Salim and Anarkali going completely haywire with an endearing Paresh stealing the show as he watches Rahul stealing his wife, Mallika.<BR><BR> But full marks to Chhel for not overdoing it, thanks to the right doses of drama and loud but not in-your-face characters (minor correction: much of Mallika, is er, in your face!).<BR><BR> Without going too much into the story, let it just be said that Maan Gaye Mughall-E Azam is a fun-filled 2-hour-15 minutes caper with some good performances, great funny lines and hilarious situational comedy. If Rahul is a pleasant surprise as an unlikely funnyman so is Kay Kay (special mention: the Kay-Kay-Mallika seduction scenes). And Paresh? Hail, the king of comedy.<BR><BR> After Chhel’s failed ‘connection’ with the crowds last month (he had scripted Kismat Konnection), this should bring them back laughing. Maan liya!

If things do indeed happen in threes, Mallika Sherawat's next movie should also be a copy. Mallika's last film, Ugly Aur Pagli was ripped off from a little-known South Korean film My Sassy Girl. But the maker of the latest Mallika-starrer seems to have decided to go the whole hog and get 'inspired' by a classic instead.<BR><BR> Indeed, Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam is a copy. The film, which revolves around the escapades of a theatre group, seeks its 'inspiration' from the Mel Brooks-starrer To Be or Not to Be (1983).<BR><BR> So we are introduced to a theatre group that has an ageing actor Mazumdar (Paresh Rawal), his sexy and promiscuous wife Shabnam (Mallika Sherawat) and a bunch of other actors of whom one resembles a don.<BR><BR> Enter Arjun Rastogi (Rahul Bose), a dashing young man who comes to watch their plays just to ogle at Shabnam. Arjun we are told is in fact a senior intelligence officer who is in the area scouting for underworld connections.<BR><BR> As luck would have it, he overhears a local goon (Pavan Malhotra) plotting a bomb attack in the otherwise peaceful neighbourhood. He manages to avert trouble but also blows his cover in the process. So a ghazal singer Haldi Hassan (Kay Kay Menon) is assigned to complete the task.<BR><BR> But Haldi Hassan turns out to be a traitor and thus begins a series of misunderstandings that lead to a typical farcical ending.<BR><BR> Having said that Maan Gaye... is a copy, it must also be acknowledged that Mel Brooks' To Be or Not to Be itself is a remake of a 1942 film by the same name. It tells the story of a drama troupe trying to escape from the Nazi Germany. In fact it is so faithful to the original that in most places, it even takes the dialogues verbatim from the original.<BR><BR> But then there is a difference in an acknowledged remake and a rip-off. And thankfully somewhere Sanjay Chhel decides not to translate the dialogues from the original. Sadly, even though there are some mind-blowing lines in this film, almost all are lost because the plot of the film fails to hold your interest beyond the eleventh minute.<BR><BR> Paresh Rawal, as usual does a fantastic job, though we have all seen him in much better movies than this one. And his performance is certainly not enough to carry off the film.<BR><BR> Mallika Sherawat disappoints and so does Rahul Bose. Again, we didn't mind Mallika in Ugly Aur Pagli. And Bose has always been a pleasure to watch right from his English, August days. But somehow neither of them has belted out a performance that makes you go 'a-ha!'<BR><BR> The screenplay lacks coherence and the editing seems non-existent. And then the dubbing – the less said about it the better.<BR><BR> Frankly one sees absolutely no reason to spend Rs 250 to watch something that seems to have been made so half-heartedly. One just wishes there was a little more effort put in this movie.<BR><BR> Instead all you get to see is Mallika's body (which gets boring after about 20-odd minutes) and some buffoonery that makes you want to get out of your seat and walk out.<BR><BR> Get the DVD of To Be or Not to Be from your local library. It makes much more sense to watch a classic than an unacknowledged and bad remake.

The person who act in the lead will be normally filled with high esteem and will be with a dream of doing the best of acting. No need to tell that the state of actresses will be different. They want to be the best in the country though they are limited to small environment. Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam is a story of a drama company which wanted to do something for the country end up saving the country from a great danger.<BR><BR> The movie doesn’t fall in the general category of the films bollywood used to release. It is different in approach. It is a mindless comedy but the writers concentrated more on the activities than the comedy itself to limit the fun. The writing could have been much better. Slowness in pace and repeated scenes without much fun spoiled the show a bit. The director didn’t use the possibilities to create fun, in more than many occasions. As things stand it all ended up as a strictly average show.<BR><BR> Paresh Rawal is good and in his usual spirit but the director failed to use the talent to create more fun. Mallika Sharawant is brilliant in the film. I haven’t seen much of her movies but I can vouch that this actress is much more than the flesh the camera wish to extract. The movie is pleasant because of Mallika, not as a sexy siren but as a good actress. She may be a failure doing serious roles but for doing comedy she is a perfect fit. Rahul Bose was quite ok in his usual style and his combination scenes with Paresh Rawal and Mallika Sherawat were superb. Kay Kay Menon shown his class in the small role assigned to him. Zakir Hussain too did a good job where Manoj Joshi is wasted.<BR><BR> Music of the film is just average but Choreography is brilliant. Choreography for the dream song of Rahul Bose is the highlight. I am sure Mallika will store the song for long. Cinematography of Madhu Ambat was excellent. Editing could have been better.<BR><BR> Overall, the movie is watchable but not much to expect in content. The style is different since it is drama based theme. (Quite normal in south’s film industry but a rarity in Bollywood.) The producers were taking a risk with the theme but I only wished the writer director took a bit more care in writing and added more fun to the scenes. A lighthearted and mindless comedy - one to watch with a zero expectation!
