A good emotional movie. But marketing was done as a full on comedy which had given wrong expectations for the movie goes, resulting in disappoinment at some quaters. However its an emotional drama treated in a light way. If we get that concept right before going to the movie halls, you will enjoy it. One of the fine works from priyadarshan unlike previous comedy flicks he chalked out.

KHATTA MEETHA, a remake of the 1989 Malayalam drama film. The story of this movie is Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar), a small time contractor, is desperate to succeed in a society that is skewed heavily towards the corrupt, the mean, the selfish and the law breakers. He gives up his collegiate Gandhian philosophy and is even ready to pay the mandatory bribes and do a bit of wheeling-dealing to move ahead in life, specially when he sees his kith and kin succumbing to greed and grime. But, a chance meeting with his erstwhile girlfriend (Trisha), now an honest and upright municipal commissioner, rings in the requisite conscience call. The rest is mera Bharat mahaan! Now about Performances: Akshay is earnest and in form for the entire film. Quite watchable. Rajpal Yadav and Johnny Lever are a scream. Debutante Trisha is average. Doesn't really hold your attention. Now come to the Music Pritam's score is musical enough, although it does seem an add-on, specially the Bullshit number. But i like 2song of this movie.after all this is a flop movie.

After The Release of the movie, all the reviews written for "Khatta Meetha" is far different from this one. This one's a bit introvert but that doesn't mean that this review is better than other ones. Review is a series of sentences in which a critic puts down his emotions & personal thought on the film. This one's also like that. Usually, people go to theaters to watch a Priyadarshan flick only to enjoy to some good comedy(yes comedy, not humor. Humor is "Tere Bin Laden"). And when Akshay Kumar's with Priyadarshan, it always promises hilarious scenes, very funny dialogues & The Entertainment Machine "Akshay Kumar" Himself. This time not only does Akshay Kumar acts in A Priyan Movie but also produces it. Watching the over-humorous promos of "Khatta Meetha", one will run to theaters only to experience bellyache r comedy by The most famous comedians like Akki, Rajpal Yadav , Johnny Lever, Asrani & many Others. But this one's not based on comedy only. Ya, it's not a comic caper. Also you can't believe it to be a satire by watching the video of the song "Bullshit". Then What is Khatta Meetha based on? - Khatta Meetha is a brave and honest attempt on the politics behind road construction and pool projects in our country. But the extraordinary comedy in it will also indicate it as a fultoo comedy movie. So, balancing on the two boats, Khatta Meetha starts it journey and its success surely depends on how viewers will take it as. The Story covers on Sachin Tichkule(Akshay Kumar), A Hard-struggling Road contractor whose dream is to get pool & shopping-mall projects. He also thinks much for his work-force where the most naughty one is Rangeela(Rajpal Yadav). But the work-force being not so skillful & many impious works by Sachin results to his road to success full of pot-holes. Not only that, his college love-interest Gehna Ganphule(Trisha Krishnan) comes to town being the municipal commissioner who's payback with Sachin troubles Sachin more. Also Karodimal(Asrani) is after Sachin for his money and interest. But the main sorrow in his life is when his parents are not beside him, his brother-in-laws Trigun Fatak(Manoj Joshi), Suhas Vichare(Milind Gunaji) & his elder brother Harish always exploit him because professionaly he's a nincompoop. But The Story catches other line when Priyadarshan makes us realize that Sachin's Brother-in-law duo & Harish is terribly involved in dirty politics which has mercy for nothing. From here, the main storyline continues. Usually, Priyadarshan movies only make us laugh too much but this one's very different from his older works because beside making us laugh beating the chair handles, it also shows the shameful politics and the ultra violence and the severity that politics involves. That's why it will be much 'Kadhwa' for many people and hard to digest. Akshay Kumar's always the main attraction and he always keeps the respect for that dignity. His comedy timings, expressions, dialogue throwing and serious acting in some scenes - everything will make the whole cineplex whistle and clap and also beat the cuisines where the audiences are sitting themselves. Which reminds me that this film has some good dialouges which were never before heard and expected in Priyadarshan's Comic Movie Making tradition. Trisha is not bad but it fells that she is underestimated in the whole movie. She would have done better if her role was shown important in the movie. Urvashi, Manoj Joshi, Milind Gunaji, Neeraj Vora, Aruna Irani, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Makrand Deshpande everyone were fare. But the ones who snatch the eyeballs were Rajpal Yadav, Asrani in their comic best; Johnny Lever as a cameo and Hot Kainaat Arora in the party song of the year "Aila Re Aila". Music Was not so good except the funny satiric "Bullshit" & "Aila Re Aila". The most beautiful song the movie "Sajda" was changed from K.K. to a Roop Kumar Rathore Version. Anyway, It's disappointing Pritam. Now if I come to the negative sides then, This film doesn't contain a straight and particular plot. Many attempts like the Road-Roller scene, Karodimal's house decoration and some more like that will make u laugh in the theaters but returning home, when u will think about the movie the foregoing scenes will feel like unnecessary. This film has many thing to tell in only 160 minute duration. But if you watch the film cool-minded then maybe it will not feel unwell to you otherwise you will be willing for the film to end not taking any more pressure in mind. The final word for "Khatta Meetha" is that if you are a die-hard Akshay or Akshay's comic talent fan, then this one's only for you. Don't Go on its looks or promos, this one's very different than its hilarious promos and has a strong concept in it which could have been used much better. But allover, if you support my views then don't miss this one if you wanna have a good time in the theaters long after "3 Idiots".

Khatta mittha is a mixed pack of fun and emotions.. i liked it a lot.Akki rocks. Basically the film is about Corruptions that our country excels in.Sachin Tichkule(Akki)is actually a stuggling road contractor who almost fails in every stuffs which he tries to do.Bt somehow he manages to make something out of this corrupted country. Pritam did a fairly good job wid the some of the tracks making it pleasant to hear.. but priyadarshan made certain mistakes which includes the track SAJDE as he should hav choosen K.K.'s track which is much better than the track being used in the movie.. Trisha is the new swt face of bollywood and surely a lot will b offered to her aftr this..... Overall the movie works wid the funny scenes specially in the first half.... Rajpal and akki shared an awesome chemistry together

I never seen such a bad movie with a combo of akki-priyan. No story at all. I too was wondering at last "what was the story!!!" Why bollywood has now started making disasters and also throwing them up on our head?? What has gone wrong with priyadarshan this time? Couldnt he think better than this! He tries to cover so many issues in 1 movie and he should think that its not gonna work here. I hope to watch a magic of this combo again soon!

Corruption is rampant in many countries today. No work is possible without chai paani (bribe). Everyone must have experienced this ubiquitous nuisance. KHATTA MEETHA, a remake of the 1989 Malayalam drama film, VELLANAKALUDE NADU (which was again directed by Priyadarshan) is a satire on this perpetual menace. While it was a novel issue back then, it's been done copious times over the years. Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar) is a struggling road construction contractor in a small town who has taken loans practically from the entire village. But he still manages to wear sunglasses! Trigun Fatak (Manoj Joshi), Sachin's brother-in-law, is a corrupt chief engineer who works in the municipality. Suhas Vichare (Milind Gunaji) is a road contractor married to Sachin's second sister. Anjali (Urvashi Sharma) is Sachin's college-going sister. While Sachin struggles through his never-ending woes, things go haywire. A bridge collapses because of bad construction, taking many innocent lives. Figun, Suhas and others who were involved in the construction, conveniently pass the buck to Vishwas Rao (Tinu Anand), who is a driver of the Tichkule family and later kill him. Azad Bhagat (Makrand Despande), who has lost his wife and son in the bridge mishap, is determined to bring to justice the criminals behind the scam. The common man's troubles remain the central plot of the film. As if Sachin's miseries weren't enough, the new municipal commissioner turns out to be his ex girlfriend Gehna Ganpule (Trisha) who now loathes him. The successful director-actor jodi of Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar (HERA PHERI, BHOOL BHULAIYAA, DE DANA DAN) fails to entertain this time. Priyadarshan falls short to render the issue of corruption, which Rajkumar Hirani did effectively in portions of LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI. It has the right intent but offers nothing which we haven't seen. The screenplay gets monotonous with Sachin Tichkule constantly borrowing money, his numerous tiffs with Gehna, perverted acts of Rangeela (Rajpal Yadav) and random songs. That a corrupt politician has maintained a file of all the wrong doings of his accomplices including himself, is inexplicable. It's ludicrous to see Azad Bhagat easily getting inside a politician's house and stealing important documents. The climax is too convenient to grasp. There are a few laugh-out-loud moments like the one in which the road roller rams through Gehna Ganpule's house or when Karodimal (Asrani) is attending countless calls at the same time. But that's just about it. With an excruciating long running time of 2.40 hours, the film drags. Music by Pritam except for the song Nana Chi Taang, is very poor according to his standards. Only V Manikanandan's choreography is neat. Akshay Kumar's comic timing is impeccable but he is very loud. Trisha, who makes her Hindi film debut, is passable. She looks too young to be a municipal commissioner! Urvashi Sharma is decent. Johny Lever, who is seen after a very long time, is uproarious. Wish we could see more of him. Rajpal Yadav gives a superlative performance. Makrand Despande is effective in his small role. Manoj Joshi is impressive while Kulbhushan Kharbanda is good. KHATTA MEETHA isn't sour or sweet. It's simply bland.
