Kahan Ho Tum Review {1/5} & Review Rating

Leo Films International's KAHAN HO TUM, directed by Vijay Kumar, is a thriller, but the film does not have ample thrilling moments to keep you glued to the screen.

KAHAN HO TUM is the story of three friends Jai [Samir Soni], Rakesh [Sharman Joshi] and Karan [Sonu Sood] caught up in a crime they did not commit. Unaware that they are under suspicion in the murder of a tribal beauty [Shweta Menon] they had playfully chased while on a trek in the deep jungles, they continue with their normal existence in the city until

Mansi [Ishita Arun], a film-maker from abroad, arrives on the scene to look for Jai who is to accompany her on an assignment she is working on. To her utter dismay, she finds Jai has been missing for a very long time. It's while looking for the missing Jai that she stumbles upon certain painful realities.

Were Karan and Rakesh as innocent as they claimed to be? If so then who is the real culprit? And where had a straight-forward man like Jai disappeared?

Slowly and steadily Mansi unveils the whole mystery step by step with the help of a police officer.

KAHAN HO TUM suffers largely due to a weak screenplay. Although the film had the potential to be a taut thriller, the climax of the film ruins the impact of an interesting plot.

From the script point of view, there are many loopholes. The main one being, the bonding between the three friends is shown as very strong, yet when one of them goes missing, the remaining two carry on with their lives without even giving a thought as to where the third friend had disappeared. They only wake up to reality when Mansi comes by and starts investigating.

On another occasion, the cop in the village [Raj Zutshi] does precious little to locate the whereabouts of the three friends who had chased a tribal girl in the jungles. Even though he has a pic of the three friends, he does not bother to investigate till Mansi comes knocking.

In the pre-climax, the focus shifts to the evil sarpanch and the goings-on get interesting. The viewer is indeed curious to know about the whereabouts of the missing friend and also what really happened to the tribal girl. But the finale is an absolute letdown. The ending not only looks amateurish, but also abrupt.

On the flip side, director Vijay Kumar has handled a few sequences with finesse. The sequences involving the sarpanch are noteworthy. Music [Rajat Dholakia] is plain mediocre. Cinematography [Prasann Jain] is of standard. Dialogues [Hriday Lani] are alright.

Samir Soni is mediocre, mainly because the role doesn't offer him ample scope to prove his mettle. Sharman Joshi is plain average. Sonu Sood is passable. It is Ishita Arun who carries the film on her delicate shoulders. Not once do you realise that this happens to be her debut film so confident is she!

Kenny Desai [sarpanch] tends to go overboard. Shweta Menon doesn't get much scope, though she oozes sex appeal. Raghuvir Yadav provides some light moments with natural ease. Raj Zutshi is first-rate. Vallabh Vyas and A.K. Hangal are as usual.

On the whole, KAHAN HO TUM lacks in merits to leave an impression. At the box-office, the big oppositions will further make a dent in its business.
