Rarely in our country movie are made on historical
events.Period films are always considered as big risks. But on the contrary Jodha Akbar defines a genuine example of how a charismastic, colossus, period film can be made.
Akbar Jodha started with the profound voice of Amitabh Bachhan following a war sequence.I have never seen such a realistic and well made battle scene in the contemprory cinema.Nice camera work and sound effects. How Akbar was throned, who took control of Mughal Emperor when Akbar was naive to shoulder the onus of the 'Shehenshahe Hindustan' .
But what i appreciated about this movie the most was after the vivah(nikah) of Jodha and Akbar.
The romance and the way it was handled was admirable.Scenes like the sword fight between Ash and Hrithik and how beautifully the romance was blended in it,how Akbar was getting impressed by a typical Rajput lady who was not at all ready to compromise on her religion and culture.Whther we talk about dialogues, sets, costumes, expressions, music, culture, rituals everything is so delicately handled by Ashu keeping the right balance between Rajput(Hindu) and Mughal(Islam).
Ashu also won on perfectly handling the subjects of politics, religion, family and love.Audience can be showered with right blend of all those time to time throughout the movie.Nothing is monopolised, but still Jodha Akbar can be said as the eternal love story people hardly know.
Hrithik is stunning. All praise to him,he succeded in delivering loud dialogues(scene demand) and the chemistry between him and Aishwarya once again proved that Dhoom 2 was not a coincidence.
Aishwarya never looked as beautiful as she is lookin in this movie, and apart from her look she paints the screen her colourful expressions and versatile acting.
Kiran Kher,Sonu sood are good too.
Music is concerned,Khwaja mere Khwaja,Jashne Bahara and Ajeemo Shaan Shehenshah,Specially the last one which was choregraphed beautifully.
The only drawback i found in the movie was its length, even that is tolerable if it is cut by 10 to 15 mins. The last song was needless which only tests the patience of audience. If the song is out the length is perfect.
Please keep all those controversies aside watch this movie as a beautiful period movie, coz this is a fresh, different and no doubt a risky subject choosen by a daring and super talented Ashutosh Gowariker. In my book i would rate this movie as an admirable, colossus, sincere effort whish is seriously a must watch despite all hue n cry.
Hats off to Ashu.
