Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story Review {2.5/5} & Review Rating
EXPECTATIONS
Just like when it comes to Vishesh Films, one has expectations of good music from Tips Music Films as well. The production company has an eye on good music and Race 2, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and for that matter even Prince has boasted of good and popular music. This is what one expects from Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story as well, more so since it has Sachin-Jigar at the helm of affairs with Priya Panchal as the lyricist who is always expected to bring in something fresh on the table.
MUSIC
When it comes to a Tips film, one expects a song or two at least from Atif Aslam. Well, he has as many as three to his name in this album comprising of four songs and the one that comes at the very beginning is 'Aa Bhi Ja Mere Mehermaan'. A superb number by all means with some very good melody by Sachin-Jigar and boasting of the kind of pacing and arrangements that make it a trademark urban affair that just cannot fail, this well written number by Priya Panchal is a winner.
What follows next is a much mellowed outing in the form of 'Thoda Thoda'. It has Sachin bringing himself behind the mike and actually doing a doing a good job while leaving an impression. His singing partner is Shreya Ghoshal and together they do well in coming up with a melodic outing that has a soothing effect on a listener. Since this is a kind of number that takes time to grow, it should ideally have been pumped across all channels/forums by now to gain maximum visibility.
The song that does end up making an instant impression is 'Dil Na Jaane Kyun' with which Atif Aslam returns on the scene. A club outing, it has an electrifying start to it with Atif singing in a manner that brings in a childlike innocence to the proceedings. A fun love song that could well turn out to be a DJ's favourite in weeks to come, it has Anushka Manchanda doing extremely well while giving company to Atif behind the mike. Moreover, it's the simplicity in lyrics that keep the pace going as well.
Priya Panchal turns singer for 'Hai Na' and surprisingly she isn't the one who has written this one. Instead it is guest lyricist Mayur Puri at the helm of affairs. Yet another young track with an urban flavour to it, 'Hai Na' has Atif leading the show. While there is an old world charm to it while carrying a distinct Western flavour, somehow this one doesn't go all the way. An additional spark may come in though, if the picturisation is striking enough. The album concludes with a 200 second long 'Mashup' which sounds good till as it lasts.
OVERALL
Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story has some good songs filling in the soundtrack and at least a couple of them carried very good potential to be chartbusters already. However late arrival of the songs, no physical presence in stores or other forums (which could have resulted in enhanced visibility), limited presence online and controlled promotion could have a telling on the eventual popularity. With the film releasing tomorrow, a lot would now depend on its box office run that would decide how far does the soundtrack go from this point on.
