Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai Review {2.5/5} & Review Rating

EXPECTATIONS

One has decent expectations from the music of Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, though not massive since the film has been promoted more as a frothy entertainer than a musical. Nevertheless, in a romantic comedy, there is always scope of some sweet tunes. With Sameer as the lyricist and composer duo of Sajid-Wajid (who have recently given some wonderful gems in Veer) at the helm of affairs, one can expect a certain melodic quotient in the songs.

MUSIC

The album begins with a bang and bags your attention from the very first note with 'Keh Do Zara' turning out to be an excellent musical piece. A kind of number that can never go out of fashion, 'Keh Do Zara' is a highly melodious tune that could have reached the same level as 'Don't Say Alvida' had it been adequately promoted by now. Sung by Rashid Ali who has only crooned for A.R. Rahman so far (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa (Aditi), Slumdog Millionaire, Blue, Ada - A Way of Life), 'Keh Do Zara' is a beautiful romantic number that keeps you thoroughly engaged (and entertained) right through it's five minute duration. Also arriving in a well made 'remix version', 'Keh Do Zara' is for the ones who are in love or at least have been in love once!

The song that follows next has predictability written all over it and though the tune does come with a strong sense of deja vu, it is not a pushover thankfully due to the kind of energy that Sonu Nigam brings in his rendition. Starting off exactly in the same manner as 'Where's the party tonight?' [Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna], 'Nacha Main' is a club dance floor track features the entire principal cast of the film. With a strong influence of Punjabi folk to it while being presented along with Western arrangements, this passable track has Sowmya Raoh lending her vocals as well.

The title song comes a wee bit later but makes its presence felt immediately. Sung by Shaan, 'Jaane Kahan Se Aayi' is a fun track where the lead pair of the film is shown to be indulging in a friendly banter. However, it's the theme piece of the song that promises a long standing impression since it aims at arriving at multiple junctures as a part of the narrative. A track that describes the character of a girl from Venus who has just arrived on Earth in search for love, 'Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai' can be expected to find more popularity coming it's way once the film releases and sees a longer run for itself in theaters. The 'remix version' only adds on to a decent impact that it has managed to create.

Finally arrives the love song 'Koi Rok Bhi Lo' which brings the album to a good conclusion. After an exciting beginning in 'Keh Do Zara', it's a nice touch to see this duet by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan turning out to be reasonably (if not equally) impressive. A track that has a hint of sadness to it due to the lead couple trying to find bearing in their romantic relationship, 'Koi Rok Bhi Lo' has a grand arrangement to it at places which lends a classy touch to the proceedings.

OVERALL

Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai gives a little more than what one expected from the album. A short and sweet album with just four songs, it has most things going right for it with the number 'Keh Do Zara' having a timeless quality to it. Also, other songs aren't a pushover either with the title song promising to bring some good fun on screen. All that one looks forward to now is some good promotion of these songs since the film is just round the corner. With an overdose of album releases in recent times and listener expected to pick the best from the lot, it's a challenge up the sleeves of the makers to manage good visibility of their songs.
