The story starts with Vijaya Scindia (Hema Malini) and her husband Jiwaji Scindia (Vinod Khanna), who get pressurised by the government of free... India in the year 1947, in order to surrender their kingdoms and become a part of ‘One India’. Even though they agree reluctantly, when they see that the people are being exploited by the government, Vijaya Scindia decides to contest the elections.
