4.5 Excellent

The movie got added to my 'To Watch List' ever since I heard about Aamir Khan joining the franchise. Yes, the plot was distinguished, but it lacked genuineness. The highly illogical action sequences were hugely instrumental in ruining all the excitement. To be honest, they were laughable, especially the ones in the first half. The story was commendable. Though it seemed a little unreal, it was acceptable, especially to an Indian audience. But only because it was very similar to a very popular Hollywood flick, the twists and turns seemed predictable. The emotional scenes were the life of the movie. They were brilliantly put forth. The climax again was a little unconvincing, yet it was watchable.

Coming to the performances, Aamir Khan, as the protagonist, was satisfactory. But, this was definitely not the best he could have done. When compared to his work in his previous movies, this performance was fair to middling. Katrina Kaif who played the only female lead in the movie didn't have much screen-time to present her acting skills, but her dance acts were amazingly energetic and spectacular. When spoken about acting, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra were mainstream, neither much impressive nor too awful. The supporting cast was garden-variety.

According to me, the director filmed the plot to a very ordinary level. It could have been a very fine heist thriller film, but failed to achieve, thanks to all the absurd action sequences. But yes, the locations were wonderful, also finely pictured. The screenplay was neat, yet could have been improved. The music from Pritam was mediocre. Hats off to the choreography, the dance acts were sensational and eye-catching. This was one big positive I could point out from the movie. The editing department did a fair job. Other departments too managed to pull out a moderate performance.

Overall, the movie is reasonably good. It is entertaining, but only up to a certain extent. The decision to watch the movie in a cinema hall totally depends upon the viewer. Go for it if you are a huge Aamir Khan fan. But, if you have developed interest in watching movies with plots that are real and conceptual, I don't think this one will impress you. According to me, it was definitely a one-time watch.
