Agneepath , One of the most awaited biggies of 2012 finally arrives. Remake of the 1990 'Agneepath' ,the makers of the new version takes only the plot but they present it in a completely different style.Agneepath has a compelling and a riveting story.but does the screenplay has done justice to the story ? the answer is a big Yes.barring some loopholes and some unexciting moments,Agneepath is surely one of the most gripping hindi movie till date.the first hour is a complete rollercoaster ride with several things going on screen and the audience just enjoying it.the second hour starts with a bang but the mid-portions get on to a slow track.however the film is revived in the pre-climax and the climax portions. the climax is superb with the audience actually rooting for the protagonist. dialouges are good, however more strong dialogues would have left a greater impact.action though is gory but is raw and enjoyable.background score is superb.music takes a backseat with not too much songs but the picturisation of the songs are a treat.'Chikni Chameli' is a rage.Editing coudl have been more sharp but is alright.cinematography is superb.the raw and the rustic look is excellently captured by Kiran Deohans.Direction by debutante Karan Malhotra is promising.he makes a superb debut.he executes the subject with utmost conviction.Agneepath also works because of its power-packed performances.Hrithik Roshan as the new Vijay Chauhan is simply outstanding.he registers his own style and performs effortlessly.Priyanka Chopra is a treat to watch.she provides the light moments. The real scene stealer is surely Rishi Kapoor.always being cast in sweet and sensitive roles,he proves that he can perform a negative character with flourish.his accent, his style, his expressions are brilliant.Sanjay Dutt proves his acting mettle again with Agneepath.his vicious look adds to the performance.he should surely try more negative roles.Om Puri is competent.Zarina Wahab is amazing.Rajesh Tandon Sinks Into the teeth of the role and enacts it with flourish.Sachin Khedekar is good.Deven Bhojani is superb.Chetan Pandit is alright.Arish Bhiwandiwala steals the show in the initial portions.a masterwork by the young artist.Kanika Tiwari expresses so much from her face.Katrina Mesmerizes in her item song.Overall,Agneepath is one of the finest films to come out of Hindi film industry.Gripping screenplay,Captivating performances and Brilliant Execution are the high points.Highly Recommended.

As one of the most awaited films of 2012, Agneepath strongly delivers to the audience who enjoys…
As one of the most awaited films of 2012, Agneepath strongly delivers to the audience who enjoys the typical Bollywood 'Masala' Films. If you enjoy a storyline with action, drama, and an underlying theme of revenge Agneepath is the film for you. However, if you're expecting to see something you've never seen before in Hindi Cinema, Agneepath won't satisfy you as an audience member. The film starts out extremely parallel to Amitabh Bachchan's original Agneepath (1990). The first few opening scenes are almost identical except for the fact that the remake used stronger cinematography and art direction to illustrate a more brutal death of Master Chauhan. This scene is the strongest point in the film which sticks in the viewer's mind until the end of the movie. However, after this scene Agneepath is no different from any 'Masala' film made in the past. Based on its direction it is comparable to past films such as 'Dabangg', 'Singham', and 'Wanted'. However, what separates this film from the others is the fact that there were no songs in the film which seemed to take away from the film's plot. Hrithik Roshan had a strong performance portraying a newer and more realistic version of 'Vijay Dinanath Chauhan'. However, in comparison to Amitabh Bachchan's Agneepath (1990), the character of 'Vijay' was not as dynamically written by the scriptwriters of this film. While Amitabh Bachchan's character was seen as a suave mobster in a Versace suit, Hrithik's character was shown as a classless gangster from the slums of Mumbai. Hrithik did well with what was given to him, however his portrayal of this character will not be as greatly acknowledged. In contrast to Hrithik's portrayal as Vijay, Sanjay Dutt's role as 'Kancha' was the attention-grabber of this film. Dutt did a wonderful job in recreating 'Kancha' as a new psychotic villain in comparison to the posh and sophisticated portrayal that Danny Denzongpa created in the original film. Other actors who performed well were Om Puri and Rishi Kapoor. Priyanka Chopra played her role to perfection; however the writing of her character played a very small contribution to the major plot of the film. One of the major things this film lacked was the correlation between the hero and the villain. 'Vijay Chauhan' and 'Kancha' only have a total of about 3 to 4 scenes together. Because of the lack of communication amongst these two characters, it seems highly unrealistic that they are major enemies. If the film, had more scenes with these two characters together, it would have been much better. In short, Agneepath is a film that starts out strong and grabs your attention. However as it goes on, the plot simmers down, which doesn't generate as much excitement as the opening few scenes of the film. Despite having this flaw in the script, the majority of the actors in this film performed well. Because of the actors' strong performances along with a few flaws in the storyline, Agneepath deserves a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

If Revenge were a dish best served cold, Mukul Anand made it icy. Rather, as Vijay Deenanath Chauhan rose through the echelons of the underworld in his white suit, eye liner and hoarse voice, Amitabh Bachchan sizzled with one of his most memorable performances. His, was a character powerful enough to speak through actions and as the movie centered around his vendetta, Mukul Anand extracted commendable performances through the supporting cast while engaging us in Vijay Chauhan's story. Now, Dharma Productions tries to recreate the magic with debutant director Karan Malhotra, whose violently intense but hollow remake is everything short of the legend. 'Agneepath' shouldn't have been re-made in the first place. Not with Hrithik Roshan. The story's premise remains the same with Mandwa's school teacher Deenanath Chauhan being betrayed by the villagers in a malicious scheme devised by Kancha (Sanjay Dutt), that has him lynched from the village tree. As his son (Hrithik Roshan) vows to avenge his death and his family's humiliation, he uses Raut Lala's (Rishi Kapoor) influence to rise in the underworld. After an elimination round, Vijay Chauhan proposes a deal with Kancha directly to obtain control over Mandwa in exchange for Bombay, which was in his shoes at that point. Kancha is a mean, monstrous, evil Raavan of his Lanka and obviously that offer doesn't go down well with him. However, Vijay's entire life has been full of sacrifices only to regain his village and family's honor. He must succeed in ousting Kancha's evil reign over Mandwa. Normally, Vijay Chauhan could've pulled this off easily. Not because he's sarva shaktimaan but because he had to be powerful enough to overcome any obstacle and defy death itself against such nemesis. Karan Malhotra instead, chose to make Vijay Chauhan more subtle, calm and ordinary. Hrithik Roshan's performance is devoid of any glamour, memorable dialogue, authority or even anger. His remorseful, guilt-ridden, secondary existence hardly match up against the challenges in store for him. 'Agneepath''s remake will be remembered if at all, for all factors other than Hrithik Roshan. Those factors include Kancha and Raut Lala. Rishi Kapoor portrays the inhuman, manipulative and authoritative Raut Lala convincingly. Never before have we seen him pull off such a negative character and his incredible acting sheds the charming image and creates a magnetic aura of evil. Apart from being a necessary character in Vijay Chauhan's rise to power, Raut Lala is also the film's big surprise with Rishi Kapoor's brilliant portrayal. As Kancha walks into Mandwa upon his father's calling, with The Geeta in his hand, wearing a long dark kurta over a monstrous body and an evil smile upon his daunting face, we realize how weak Vijay Chauhan will be and how impervious his revenge will be. Kancha gets all the good stuff including the eerie looking lair in Mandwa, mythological quotes, canny humour, action and a chance to beat up Hrithik Roshan. Sanjay Dutt plays the part with ease and gets to exploit his versatility in his most evil role. The writers laid more emphasis on the villains with situations, dialogues, style and degrees of evil. Thus, it shouldn't be a surprise that Hrithik Roshan gets shrouded by two terrific actors who exploit favorable conditions to deliver monumental performances. With less confidence, a couple of white shirts, glycerined eyes, lack of development and subdued characterization, Hrithik Roshan's Vijay Chauhan fades in the shadow of Amitabh Bachchan's. Barring the excessive violence, the villains will leave an impression in a movie that was supposed to be about the hero's vengeance. To top it all, we have Priyanka Chopra's irritating character that is overly peppy, hyperactive and naïve. She does the same thing in every big movie as though the director leaves her on her own and she goes on to ruin 'Krrish', 'Dostana', 'Don 2' and now this. Another disappointment is the film's music. The much hyped Chikni Chameli is perhaps the worst item song ever, completely disposable from the movie and inappropriate for Katrina Kaif's standards. Deva Shree Ganesha is a good theme but tends to overwhelm the situation at hand. Shah ka Rutba is perhaps the film's only relevant and memorable song. Ravi Chandran's cinematography captures the mood and the larger than life characters brilliantly. The colors and saturations make every scene look remarkable while set designs, costumes and make-up artists create the rest of the magic for Raut Lala and Kancha. Karan Malhotra's ambitious attempt to recreate Vijay Deenanath Chauhan's incredible story has more evil engrained within. To the extent that it lost the importance of Vijay's suffering, sacrifice, ambition and greed for power. He lacks all the shades that make a hero and the script fails to support the cause as well. If Bombay was truly in his shoes, why doesn't he have the authority to go with it? Is he ruling it with a bunch of eunuchs from the chawl along with two henchmen? It's one thing to portray him living a simple life but austerity is quite the extreme, literally. Was he even recognized in town? He was supposed to have a huge following that would lead to an uprising in Mandwa. Here, he is begging for attention for acts that do not warrant it. These and many other aspects have been ignored for Vijay's character and therefore, the story has little impact upon the viewer. All they will remember is how powerful the villains were in comparison and how unconvincingly, Vijay Chauhan defeated them. This was not what Mukul Anand created. A remake should atleast align itself with the original's vision if not other aspects. Raut Lala was a great creation but elsewhere, the innovation seemed to lack in a fatal manner. As Vijay Chauhan struggles to breathe after severe beating by Kancha, in the background of a gloomy Mandwa and blaring background music, he narrates the Agneepath poem aloud and hangs Kancha up the same village tree that saw his father's lynching. It should've been an epic ending to all the violence and evil and a celebratory victory for the hero but Hrithik Roshan seems to be trying too hard to convince the villagers and the audience that he has done it! That he has achieved what Amitabh Bachchan had two decades ago. Karan Malhotra, had other plans. 6.33 on a scale of 1-10.

AGNEEPATH - If dis wuld hav been jus another regular masala muvi.. it might hav clicked... But taking on a cult film like 'Agneepath' is more like running towards a moving train.. Dis version results in sum one-sided comparisons like: -Big B vs Hrithik (though hrithik ws gud wid his expressions.. but failed to carry d burden of a heavy name like 'Vijay Dinanath Chauhan'.. even though it is a loss-loss situation for any actor, but i think only Ajay Devgan wuld hav been a risk worth taking for dis one).. -Danny vs Sanjay Dutt (sanju baba luked dangerous.. bt he is too cute to b hated).. -Kader Khan vs Piyush Mishra (d dialogues lacks d intensity).. -Mukul Anand vs Karan Malhotra ( bcoz of a lacklustre screenplay, d audience might fail to relate with d classic characters... unlike d original version, where even today v culd remember small characters like d mad Tinu Anand, even after a decade).. Thankfully Mithun's character was not repeated.. n luckily dre ws Rishi Kapoor's character (sumthin to luk out for).. Chameli adds spark.. jus wat Munni did for Dabang.. Awl in awl d intention ws gud.. but d makers took d wrong PATH.. d AgneePATH !!

Just one word - OUTSTANDING! This version of Ageepath is not a remake of the original, and will win hearts on his accord. I personally prefer this version purely because of the directional masterclass put together by Karan Malhotra - this guy will go a long way. I felt the original Agneepath, was a little overhyped, however won it's cult status purely because of Amitabh and Mithun's performances. Hrithik is the star of this show, and no one can take this away from him. He oozes quality, excels in every scene, and is surely in line for another award. The way he plays his part with emotion, passion and intensity is a lesson to others in the industry - he is the perfect hero for this film. Sanjay Dutt has rewritten the rule book for villains. His look and potrayal of Kancha will go a long way, and this is by far one of his best films. Rishi is a revelation, and in scene stealer in many of his scenes. Priyanka plays her small role to perfect. The kid who plays Vijay is also going to do very well. Overall this film is fantastic. No one expected it do so well, but the pure power of Hrithik, Sanjay and Rishi will take this films to new heights.
