Pritam And Pedro trailer launch: Vikrant Massey CONFESSES that he has been a victim of cybercrime, "My social media accounts were hacked; money has been fraudulently deducted from my wife's account twice"
Rajkumar Hirani, Arshad Warsi, Vikrant Massey, Vir Hirani, Mona Singh, music director Shantanu Moitra, lyricist Swanand Kirkire, director Avinash Arun, Alok Jain of JioStar and cyber security expert Amit Dubey attended the trailer launch of Pritam And Pedro at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. The web series is based on cybercrime, and Amit Dubey stunned the audience by hacking a journalist's phone live to depict how easily scammers can wreak havoc. Towards the end of the event, Shreya Ghoshal made a special appearance and sang the song ‘Piya Piya Piya’. This is the first time that Vikrant Massey has worked with Rajkumar Hirani and he spoke about it.
Vikrant said, “Even if you get a chance to have a passing shot or just one scene in Hirani-verse, it’s more than enough. I am really excited to be a part of this show. I was sick of playing gaav ka gareeb or a boy-next-door (smiles). I thought of doing something different. Finally, sir gave me an opportunity.”
He added, “In Hirani-verse, the anti-hero also has a purpose. The antagonist is not conventional or cliched. There’s a subtext with all the characters, and Martin is no exception. Jo cheezein nahin kehni hai, woh main nahin kahunga!” The last sentence seemed like a dig at Arshad Warsi, who blurted out earlier at the launch that Sanjay Dutt also features in Pritam And Pedro.
Arshad, in his trademark style, joked, “Bol de, bol de. Koi nahin dekhne waala hai!”
Vikrant Massey further spoke about the show, “It’s based on cybercrime and hence, it’s a relevant topic. Directly or indirectly, we have been targeted by it. The show is entertaining and it also focuses on the human side of it. Hopefully, my character would also get some empathy (smiles).”
The host asked Vikrant if he had ever been a victim of cybercrime. Vikrant Massey confessed, “This has happened to me 3-4 times. My Instagram handle was hacked twice. My Facebook account was hacked once. Money has been fraudulently deducted from my wife’s account twice.”
Arshad Warsi joked, “Lekin maine toh ek hi baar kiya tha!”
Vikrant smiled and then added, “A few days back, my sister-in-law’s father also got scammed. That’s when I got in touch with Amit sir. We all saw here that he’s a pro. So, he helped us out.”
