Anshula Kapoor reflects on parents' separation and father Boney Kapoor marrying Sridevi: "There was a drastic shift in the way my classmates were behaving towards me"

Anshula Kapoor, now seen in Karan Johar’s The Traitors, recently reflected on her school years, calling it a confusing time following her parents Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie’s separation before Boney married Sridevi. She recalled being shunned at school during that period.

In an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Anshula Kapoor reflected on feeling like an outcast at school following her parents’ separation. She shared, “I was in the first standard. There were families who didn’t want to associate with what was happening in our lives. They didn’t want their children to come into our house and be part of any friction. In the 90s, you went to some child’s house after school, right?”

 

Anshula further addressed her father Boney Kapoor’s marriage to Sridevi, reflecting on how it affected her socially. She said, “I remember that there was a drastic shift in the way that my classmates were behaving towards me, and the way that their families were behaving towards me. It was a very emotional and a very confusing time to be in school. Because of the partner that my father chose, unfortunately or fortunately, it became a lot more public, because they were both public figures.”

 

Anshula further explained that in the 90s, separations were rare, and it took time for people to realize that such situations didn’t reflect any flaw in a person’s character.

 

Boney Kapoor was first married to Mona Shourie, with whom he had two children, Arjun and Anshula Kapoor. Their marriage ended after he fell in love with Sridevi, whom he married in 1996. The couple had two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. His relationship with Sridevi drew significant media attention due to its overlap with his first marriage, but they remained together until her passing in 2018.

 

Anshula Kapoor recently appeared on Karan Johar’s reality show The Traitors, which features 20 contestants split into Traitors and Innocents. While Anshula was evicted in the latest episode, the show’s finale airs on July 3, with Apoorva Mukhija, Harsh Gujral, Jasmin Bhasin, Purav Jha, Uorfi Javed, and Sudhanshu Pandey still in the race.
