Anil Kapoor reflects on 41 years of friendship with Jackie Shroff: “Ours was a friendship that grew in strength, quietly but surely”

Anil Kapoor recently took a moment to celebrate the enduring friendship he shares with fellow Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, a bond that spans over four decades since they first worked together. Their journey began with the 1984 action film Andar Baahar, directed by Raj N. Sippy, and this connection has grown stronger with time, evolving from professional competitors into close friends.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Anil shared rare behind-the-scenes moments from Andar Baahar and reflected on how their relationship matured over the years. He wrote, “On and off sets, ours was a friendship that grew in strength, quietly but surely. What was once a healthy rivalry, gently faded into the deepest respect and love for each other...41yearsofAndarBaahar and a friendship I'll cherish forever.”

 

 

Andar Baahar, a remake of the 1982 Hollywood film 48 Hrs., starred Moon Moon Sen, Kim, and Danny Denzongpa alongside Anil and Jackie. In the story, Anil’s character Raja and Jackie’s Inspector Ravi Khanna team up to catch the gangster Shera after a bank robbery goes wrong.

 

The two actors went on to share the screen in many memorable films, including Ram Lakhan, Karma, Kabhi Na Kabhi, Parinda, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, 1942: A Love Story, Trimurti, Kala Bazaar, and Shootout at Wadala, further solidifying their personal and professional bond.

 

Looking ahead, Anil Kapoor is set to appear in the drama Subedaar, directed by Suresh Triveni, where he portrays a former soldier working to rebuild his relationship with his daughter.
