Samrat Prithviraj Advance Booking Report: Akshay Kumar starrer collects Rs. 2 crores - 35% of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

The Akshay Kumar starrer historical drama, Samrat Prithviraj, is closing its advance booking with below the mark ticket sales. According to our tracking, the movie has sold approximate tickets worth Rs. 2 crores nett, and these figures are far off from what one expected from a big budget period drama.

The three national chains - PVR, Inox and Cinepolis - have sold about 37,000 tickets for the opening day. To put things into perspective, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and RRR had sold 1.05 lakh tickets in advance at the same three chains. In nett terms, the three national chains have sold tickets worth Rs 80 lakh, with Carnival, MovieMax and other multiplex chains putting in another 30 lakhs.

 

There are some small centers which have sold reasonable amount of tickets, but these don't matter in the larger scheme of things as over 45% of the collections often come in from the national chains, and the collections in advance here are negligible. This sort of advance suggests a single digit opening, but with so much promotions done and the tax free benefits from the ruling party in multiple states, one can't ignore the possibility of one section of the audience stepping out via spot bookings tomorrow.

 

The ticket prices of Samrat Prithviraj are around 20% higher than Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, but the sales are about 65% lower. Usually, the opening day collections of a film are 3 times the advance booking, but with Prithviraj, they will definitely be much higher as the film too is lot bigger than what the advances suggest.
