Box Office: Top Opening Day of 2017 – Sarkar at no. 12, Meri Pyaari Bindu at no. 13

 

Yesterday we saw the release of two starkly different films with Sarkar 3 and Meri Pyaari Bindu hitting screens. While Sarkar 3 directed by Ram Gopal Varma featured Amitabh Bachchan returning to reprise the role of Subhash Nagre, Meri Pyaari Bindu featured Ayushmann Khuranna and Parineeti Chopra. However, both films were expected to face a tough time at the box office, given the fact that the previous release Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion has manage to continue holding the audience’s interest.Box Office: Top Opening Day of 2017 – Sarkar at no. 12, Meri Pyaari Bindu at no. 13

 

In this box office report we take a look at the Opening Day collections of both Sarkar 3 and Meri Pyaari Bindu while comparing the same to the opening day collections of previous releases of 2017.  Not surprisingly, Sarkar 3 that is the third film in the Sarkar franchise has opened on a slightly better note than Meri Pyaari Bindu by collecting Rs. 2.5 cr on opening day. On the other hand Meri Pyaari Bindu has managed to rake in just Rs. 1.75 cr.

 

However, when compared to the previous releases of 2017 Sarkar 3 ranks as the 12th highest opening day grosser while Meri Pyaari Bindu ranks 13th. Preceding both the films are previous releases like Baahubali 2- The Conclusion that collected Rs. 41 cr, Raees that collected Rs. 20.42 cr, Jolly LLB 2 that collected Rs. 13.2 cr, Badrinath Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 12.25 cr, Kaabil that collected Rs. 10.43 cr and even films like Commando 2, Naam Shabana, Rangoon and Ok Jaanu.
