Supreme Court grants relief to Madhur Bhandarkar

Noted filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar can now heave a sigh of relief as the Supreme Court has stayed proceedings against Bhandarkar and has issued notice to Preeti Jain with regards to the alleged rape-case.

It may be recalled that in 2004, starlet Preeti had accused Madhur of raping her repeatedly between 1999 and 2004 and falsely promising to offer her a role in one of his movies. Drama unfolded when Preeti was arrested in 2005 for hiring a contract killer to murder Bhandarkar.

 

In January 2006, police requested the court to dismiss the case against Bhandarkar as they had found Preeti`s allegations to be false.

 

Now this verdict by the apex body Supreme Court will surely put a smile on Bhandarkar
