After a good second week where it did well to have consistent collections right through the weekdays,Sultan was expected to nett at least between Rs. 2.5-3 crore on its third Friday. This didn't happen though as the collections did slip to a fair degree with just Rs. 2.14 crore coming in. Honestly, one expected a better hold since neither Kabali nor Madaari were much of a competition for the Salman Khan starrer, which has been appreciated more as well. However, a fall in collections pretty much reflects that the film would struggle to touch Rs. 300 crore or go much further from that point.
Still, that doesn't stop the film from enjoying an All Time Blockbuster tag and makes one further sure about the fact that either the Ali Abbas Zafar film would stay on to be the highest grosser of the year or would be challenged only by Aamir Khan's Dangal that releases right at the close of year. Before that though, Aamir Khan would have to give away his spot of the third highest grosser of all times, what with Sultan all set to surpass the collections of Dhoom 3 (Rs. 284 crore). With the Yash Raj film currently standing at Rs. 280.10 crore, the feat could be achieved today itself as Sultan needs to bring in just Rs. 3.9 crore. While that could mean that the film would have to almost double it's Friday collections, in absolute numbers this is totally possible since the film has enough screens and good show timings to its disposal to make that happen.
