Anjumm Shharma recently played the character Bengali in Milan Luthria’s crime web show Sultan Of Delhi. The actor is happy to see rave reviews not just for the show but also his work. Sharing his take on the reaction the show and his performance is getting, Anjumm said in a statement, “We are receiving a great response from the members of the industry, audience and critics and they have told me that Sultan of Delhi is just like a commercial Bollywood film. People are talking about the large scale of the show, the dialogues and the performances. I am glad that we are getting good reactions. When we started with the show, we had complete faith in it being a hit and all the positive energies came together to make this a huge success. I feel a certain amount of satisfaction and achievement now.”

Anjumm believes that the show takes the audience back to the golden era of Hindi cinema ruled by legends like Amitabh Bachchan. “The things that we have done in the show are things that legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha and many more have done in the golden era of the movies,” he said. “Owing to their brilliant acting and amazing dialogue delivery, they have carried the larger-than-life image of being a hero on their shoulders. For instance, a line like ‘Main aaj bhi pheke Hue paise nahi uthata’ does not create an impact until and unless there is an actor who can deliver the dialogue properly. Thankfully, we had such great actors and writers in that era, who made the characters believable and effective, and this is very rare to find in today’s time.”

Anjumm was taken back to the films of the golden era when he was offered the show. “When this show came to me, the 10-year-old in me who has grown up watching films like Trishul, Tridev, Don, Sholay, Parvarish got very excited. It’s a very rare opportunity for any actor in today's time. The imagery of the character is well portrayed through the way they stand, hold a gun or even perform action. The most interesting part of the role was that even though this was not reality, the craft had to look real according to today's times, but the imagery and the mounting of the drama is similar to the Golden Era of the 60s,” he said.
