Box Office: Munna Michael collects Rs. 31.62 crore in Week One, Lipstick under My Burkha brings in Rs. 10.96 crore

Munna Michael didn't really have a major week at the Box Office as only Rs. 31.62 crore came in. Ideally, these should have been the weekend numbers for the film given the kind of scale and publicity that it boasted of. If the weekend was below average, the weekdays stayed low too with no real push coming in. The result was rather flat collections between Monday to Thursday and there was a downward trajectory as a result of which the collections just about managed to cross the Rs. 30 crore milestone.

When compared to the first week numbers of other Tiger Shroff releases so far, this is how Munna Michael stands:

Baaghi - Rs. 59.72 crore

A Flying Jatt - Rs. 36.85 crore (including Paid Previews)

Heropanti - Rs. 35.91 crore

Munna Michael - Rs. 31.62 crore

As is apparent, Tiger has been consistently getting a first week of over Rs. 30 crore, which means he does have some sort of audience fan base that has been built. However, two back to back underperformers in the form of A Flying Jatt and now Munna Michael means that he needs to have his next film being a real good grosser. He has Baaghi 2, Rambo and Student of the Year 2 coming in 2018 and that should pull him back into the fray in a much bigger way.

Meanwhile, Lipstick Under My Burkha has managed a first week number of Rs. 10.96 crore. Given the fact that Konkona Sen Sharma and Ratna Pathak Shah are the only two known faces in the film, Ekta Kapoor has done very well to get respectable collections for this all-women affair. The film surprised after the first day opening numbers of Rs. 1.22 crore and after that the momentum just continued right through the weekend and then well into the weekdays as well. The film has followed a trajectory similar to that of The Ghazi Attack which had an opening day of Rs. 1.65 crore and then had first week collections of Rs. 11.85 crore. The Rana Daggubati starrer had a lifetime number of Rs. 20.50 crore and this is where Lipstick Under My Burkha should land up as well.
