The David Dhawan directed film Judwaa 2 which stars Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu released yesterday after much hype and promotions. The film which is a remake of the previously released Salman Khan starrer Judwaa, has been welcomed by both the audience and critics alike.
After opening on a good note, the film witnessed good growth over evening and night shows riding high on the good rate of advance bookings. In this box office report we take a look at the collections of Judwaa 2 on its opening day while comparing the same to Varun Dhawan’s previously released films. Collecting Rs. 16.10 cr Judwaa 2 becomes Varun Dhawan’s highest opening day grosser. Though the actor’s previous released Dilwale earned Rs. 21 cr on its opening day, since it did not feature Varun as a solo lead role, it has been negated from the listing. On the other hand the collections of Judwaa 2 have surpassed Varun’s other releases like ABCD 2 - Any Body Can Dance 2 that collected Rs. 14.3 cr, Badrinath Ki Dulhania which collected Rs. 12.25 cr, Dishoom that collected Rs. 11.05 cr, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 9.02 cr, Student of the Year that collected Rs. 7.48 cr, Badlapur which collected Rs. 7 cr, and Main Tera Hero that had collected Rs. 6.60 cr.
If that wasn’t all, released across 3500+ screens within the domestic market and with a four day extended weekend on account of Dusshera and Gandhi Jayanti, the overall opening weekend total of Judwaa 2 is expected to be among the highest this year.
