Hindi Medium had yet another stable day at the Box Office as it collected Rs. 2.20 crore on its second Monday. The film has now collected Rs. 39.55 crore already and in the process has gone past the lifetime number of Naam Shabana. The film is now the seventh highest grosser of the year already after Baahubali 2 [Hindi], Raees, Jolly LLB 2, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Kaabil and Half Girlfriend, which is no mean feat.
Around 30 notable films have released in 2017 so far and for Hindi Medium to find a slot much higher in the charts is something to be celebrated when it comes to content driven cinema. This is also the highest grosser ever for Irrfan Khan when it comes to a film that has been driven primarily on his name. Earlier, his Talvar had seen lifetime collections of Rs. 31 crore and now Hindi Medium is set to cover a much larger distance.
As for Half Girlfriend, the film brought in Rs. 1 crore* more on Monday. The film is collecting low at the Box Office and is just about hanging on. The overall collections so far are Rs. 56.31 crore* and while the lifetime should cross Rs. 60 crore, that may just be about it for the Mohit Suri film. The Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer collected Rs. 32.04 crore over its opening weekend and that would be the biggest contributing factor for the film since that would account for more than 50% of its lifetime numbers. The actors have managed to get their bit from Half Girlfriend and now deserve to gather bigger numbers in films to come.
