Sachin - A Billion Dreams had a decent Monday at the Box Office as it brought in Rs. 4.20 crore. This is a fine hold when one compares with the Friday numbers of Rs. 8.60 crore. The film has collected Rs. 32.25 crore so far and should comfortably cross the Rs. 40 crore mark within a couple of days.
The film is in fact now in race with last week's release Hindi Medium which has also almost touched the Rs. 40 crore mark during its second week. While both Hindi Medium and Sachin - A Billion Dreams are assured of making an entry into the Rs. 50 Crore Club, it has to be seen that which one ends up scoring higher in the final run.
The success of Sachin - A Billion Dreams has added on to one more surprise this season after Hindi Medium. In the times when so many films with known stars/actors have failed in succession week after week, the reasonably good run of both these films has come as a respite of sorts for all involved.
One now waits to see if there are more docudramas across sports and other fields too that would be announced in quick time. One just hopes that these are well thought of decisions instead of being hasty steps since a success like Sachin - A Billion Dreams is an exception and one can't expect audiences to overnight develop a big appetite for a dose like this on a regular basis.
