Cannes Diary: Day 8

- That Indians can be classy with their Cannes dos was evident in the soiree at The Croisette Beach held to mark the completion of Ketan Mehta's Rang Rasiya - Colours Of Passion. Hosts Anand Mahendroo & Deepa Sahi warmly welcomed the select guests inside the remarkably plush shamiana where a trailer of the film (based on the illustrious painter, Raja Ravi Varma) was screened. Actors Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen, accompanied by the side actress, were around.
- Most of the trades have been harping about the bridging gap between Bollywood and Hollywood. Is it entirely? Arguably, an encouraging trend though all the deals inked so far have been financing, distribution and investment-led. It'll be a while before Indian stars feature in mainstream Hollywood features and vice-versa.
