Mira Nair is India Abroad Person of the Year 2007

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker, Mira Nair, added yet another feather to her already illustrious cap. The director of films like Salaam Bombay, Monsoon Wedding and The Namesake was yesterday (Mar 28) honored as the India Abroad Person of the Year 2007 at a glittering ceremony in New York.
The award was presented to Mira by Indra Nooyi (Chairperson and CEO-Pepsi), who incidentally was the recipient of the same award in the year 2006.
The India Abroad Person of the Year award is currently in its sixth year and was instituted in the year 2002 by 'India Abroad' -the oldest and most widely circulated news weekly for the Indian community. The awards are aimed at recognizing the outstanding achievements of the Indian-American community.
