By Bollywood Hungama News Network, March 25, 2008 - 18:22 IST

The countdown to one of the biggest cricketing events- IPL has surely begun. Needless to say, franchisees are going all out to create maximum awareness for their respective teams.

While King Khan set the ball rolling roping in people like Vishal-Shekhar and Bappi Lahiri to compose songs for his team Kolkata Knight Riders, Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia also followed suit by getting music composers Sajid-Wajid and Bhangra King Daler Mehndi to compose the theme song for their team Punjab Kings.

In fact, even liquor baron Dr. Vijay Mallya made all the right moves by getting Bollywood beauties Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone to star in a promotional video for his Rahul Dravid led Bangalore Royal Challengers team.

Now the latest news is that the Rajasthan Royals squad has roped in popular singer cum actress Ila Arun to perform a promotional track called ‘Halla Bol’. The team is owned by Emerging Media Company and Aussie legend, Shane Warne, is the captain of the team.

Ila, who is known for her Rajasthani folk songs would be cheering the team in her famous husky voice. Bollywood Hungama got in touch with the lady with the magical voice to get some more details, “Yes, I am singing ‘Halla Bol’ for the Rajasthan Royals team. It’s a very proud feeling for me to sing for the Rajasthan team since I am myself from Rajasthan. The song is written by Piyush Pandey and composed by Amar but I have also provided my inputs to give the song a really earthy flavor. It’s a very royal, rhythmic and energetic number which will have the crowds cheering for their local team.”

So will she be seen in the music video also? “I don’t have much idea about the video. It doesn’t matter if I am there in the video or not but I would make my presence felt through my voice. The common man relates to my voice. However, at some point I would be going and cheering the team personally during the matches”, said Ila who was last seen in a powerful role in Jodhaa Akbar

So does she follow cricket? “Of course. I have a special attachment towards the game of cricket. In fact, my brother Piyush has been a cricketer who has even represented Rajasthan in the Ranji team during his younger days. So, when I got this chance to cheer my land in the game of cricket, I took it up. I am very happy they thought of me to bring out local flavour”

We decided to find out which player does she have a soft corner for? “My favorite players keep changing. Whoever plays well on a particular day is my favorite. I love Kumble the most, though he doesn’t play O.D.I’s nowadays. My husband is a great fan of Sachin but I like Sourav for his fighting spirit. The way he made a comeback after being left out of the team is simply outstanding. But let me tell you when Kolkata and Rajasthan play against each other, I will cheer for Rajasthan” she signs off with a smile.
