Demonstrations done against Nana Patekar in MP; Nana upset Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, March 7, 2008 - 18:05 IST

Nana Patekar's closeness with MNS leader Raj Thackeray has landed him in a soup. The fiery actor signed a petition to protest the gag order imposed by the state on the politician. Some other prominent Bollywood celebrities like Salman Khan, Sunil Shetty, Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala had also supported the campaign started by MNS workers earlier this week to ensure that their leader Raj Thackeray gets back his freedom of speech.

However, things took a nasty turn when Bharatiya Janashakti President Uma Bharti retaliated and asked the Bollywood actors to apologize for supporting Raj Thackeray. She even threatened that films starring actors like Nana Patekar and Salman Khan would be banned in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

In fact, Uma Bharti even joined a group of demonstrators in destroying the effigies of Raj Thackeray, Nana Patekar and Salman Khan. The protestors were seen beating the effigies with slippers before burning them.

Nana had earlier given an interview on a popular news channel where he expressed his opinion on issue raised by Raj Thackeray. Later, yesterday (Mar 6) evening, Nana Patekar appeared on the same news channel and expressed his disappointment at the way people in MP had reacted towards his views.
