Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar though going great guns all over India has failed to showcase itself in the land of Princess Jodha that is, Rajasthan. The film has been claimed to hurt the sentiments of few people by altering the historical facts in the movie that talks at length about Jodha Bai.

The film scheduled for the release at 30 cinema halls in the state and nine in the capital city, Jaipur, could not make it because of an organization called Rajput Karni Group. In a four-hour telephonic conversation between the film’s director, producer, distributors, and representative of Karni Sena, Lokendra Kalvi, the latter kept on insisting a public apology from Ashutosh Gowarikar for supposedly distorting the important facts of the life of Rajput princess. He also stressed upon the removal of such falsehoods in the film.

Rajput groups have accused Gowarikar of supposedly fiddling with the history of Jodha, the daughter of Udai Singh of Marwar, who apparently, was the wife of Akbar’s son Salim and not Akbar. The group claims to withdraw their agitation only if a selected group of historians give clean chit to the film after a special screening to be held by Gowarikar.

In the meanwhile, Siddharth Roy Kapoor of UTV motion pictures while denying the accusations informed that a lot of research has been done before the making of the film. In addition, another group called Yuva Kshatriya Mahasabha is known to have stopped the screening of film in two cinema halls at Gwalior.
