It’s said, “If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older.†What could be more apt than the eve of Children’s Day, when it’s the right time to re-live those special moments called ‘childhood’, which are the best memories one can ever have. While most of us were busy playing with dolls and cars, a few others were busy practicing to say ‘cheese’ before the camera! We know them as ‘child stars’, those innocent lots of kiddos who got a double dose of hard work, both at school as well as at the studios! Looking back in history, IndiaFM credits such vintage child stars who have either got lost in oblivion or have chugged their way to become the golden stars of the silver screen today.

Junior Mehmood
As they say, ‘One man’s food is another man’s poison’. This was the case with this young kid who was famously known as Junior Mehmood. Many felt that it was the cut French moustache that gave Hitler the arrogant look. On the flip side, it was the same styled moustache that gave Junior Mehmood his famous identity. Even though, there were many who referred him as the great comedian Mehmood’s younger brother, the stark reality remained that the only bond that they shared in common was the flair for comedy and nothing beyond that. In reality, Junior Mehmood was not at all related to the legendary comedian Mehmood at all, for both of them were two different people in actuality. Junior played a small role of an extra in a 1966 film called Suhaag Raat with Mehmood and that is where they first met. Mehmood took to Junior immediately and made him his proverbial ‘shishya’. That is how he got bestowed his own name upon Junior and thus was born a star whom we all know as Junior Mehmood, who with his comedy prowess , laughed all his way to the audiences’ hearts! In fact, Mehmood Jr. proved one up on his senior while rendering ‘Kale hain to kya hua dil wale hain'.’ He acted in many movies playing the younger version of Mehmood. Some of his classic films include Kati Patang, Caravan, Haathi Mere Saathi, Aap Ki Kasam, Geet Gaata Chal and Aan Milo Sajna. Junior was always known to make his audience laugh and has kept up to it. And the eternal fact still remains unanswered as to what the Junior’s real name is! - Sachin How do you describe a person who said ‘cheese’ the moment he entered the world? How do you describe a person who said ‘cheese’ the moment he entered the world? Well, we know him by the name Sachin, the same man who has been acting since the age he learnt to crawl, if we may have a bit of liberty to exaggerate. But the fact remains intact that he has been a performer and has been entertaining people since then.
Having debuted with Ek Aur Suhagan, he made his presence felt in films like Jewel Thief, Brahmachari, Mela, to name a few. But his real shot at Bollywood came in the form of his jackpot hit Geet Gaata Chal wherein he was paired opposite Sarika. What added as an icing to the cake was his special appearance in Sholay. She is the original beauty of the Indian cinema. Even experienced swimmers started drowning in the depth of her innocent blue eyes.
An absolute versatile actor is what Sarika can be defined as; she not only played female roles but more than often was picturized as a boy. Balak was one such film. Her childhood may have been disturbing but not an ounce of that was seen once she was on screen. She was part of many renowned films like Brahmachari and Choti Bahu. Geet Gata Chal as mentioned before was one of her blockbuster films that took her to dizzying heights. Although after marriage she left acting and concentrated on family life, she made a grand comeback with her film Parzania in 2007 and Bheja Fry.
