Indian Film Industry's one and only 'Dreamgirl' Hema Malini is an icon of beauty, grace and motherhood. Her daughters Esha and Ahana are dazzling divas who exude a deep love for family traditions. In the togetherness special issue of asiaSpa, you can get a glimpse of the trio's equation as they laugh, joke and banter on life's little things.
Hema Malini: I oil my hair at least once a week and apply particular oils advised by my mother. For skin care, I visit a beauty salon every month.
Esha: I oil my hair once a week. For my skin I use a lot of Dermalogica products and don't experiment too much, since my skin is very sensitive.
Ahana: Once a month I do visit a salon for a head massage and the entire hair care routine. For my skin, I use herbal paste and products, personally made by a friend with additional ingredients added by me.
Hema Malini: I do Ramdev Baba's yoga for half an hour in the mornings. I also like to have aloe vera and amla juice. Of course, dance always works for me.
Esha: I have a very good trainer Satya who has trained me for the past nine years. I usually start my work-out with a bit of stretching, followed by walking and slow jogging. After that, I work on my abs, shoulders, back and concentrate on my legs thrice a week. When I travel, I like to go for outdoor jogs.
Ahana: In the mornings, it's yoga. When we don't have dance shows, I do my dance practices weekly. In the evenings I do kick-boxing at least four times a week. Apart from Odissi, I recently tried out this contemporary dance form Ciao, which I plan to perform in future
Ahana: So many, but this one incident stands out. I was studying in New York for two years, and when I came back; my mom and sister came to receive me. It was very emotional. Another incident is when we went for a family vacation to Venice, which included my cousins as well. And there the only way to move about is by boats. I was looking at some pigeons falling in the water thinking that my family is behind me. Suddenly, I heard a horn and when I looked back and realised none of my family was there. I began crying and then there was this Italian guy who shouted "Mother, mother!" And then a boat came back and I saw my mom with tears in her eyes.
Dancing together…
Hema Malini: When we dance together, rehearsals are fun. If I make a mistake on stage, it gives an opportunity to my daughters to tease me and say, 'Mummy you have made a mistake' and just to hear that I love to make mistakes. I love to be together with them, dance or not. For instance, doing this photo shoot has given me immense joy. I love to see my daughters in different dresses and how beautiful they look. I feel very happy as a mother.
