BBC has dropped another sneak peek into the famous time traveler series Doctor Who which is coming back with its highly anticipated 60th anniversary special in 2023.
The studio dropped a teaser trailer for the hot series which sees David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor return, now as the Fourteenth Doctor after Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor made her exit. The new teaser also offers an additional glimpse of Neil Patrick Harris's undisclosed villain and our clueless Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa.
“Sometimes, I think there’s something missing,” Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble says in the clip. “Like I had something lovely and it’s gone.” Tennant’s Doctor then adds, “I don’t know who I am anymore.” Donna Noble is seemingly in danger as the Fourteenth Doctor says that if she ever remembers him “she will die.”
The trailer then cuts to Gatwa who is cluelessly asking, “Will someone tell me what the hell is going on here?” Showrunner Russell T. Davies previously teased the upcoming season saying, “If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way!”
He continued, “The path to Ncuti’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun! And how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble? How, what, why? We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose!”
Tennant also recently talked about his "joyous" return as the Doctor with Entertainment Weekly. "[It was] an unexpected treat to get to revisit something that had been such a lovely wonderful experience fifteen years ago," the actor said, while promoting his limited series Litvinenko.
"There's some precedent for ex-Doctors showing up for, like, guest appearances, but to get to have another proper runaround in an albeit slightly different long coat was a joy I never really imagined. I just hope I look as fast as I did in the early 2000s." Doctor Who debuted in 1963 and will celebrate completing 60 years in 2023.
