Rohit Roy reveals, “I said NO to Zero Dark Thirty because of Student Of The Year” : Bollywood News

Ronit Roy played the role of a sports coach in Karan Johar’s youthful drama Student Of The Year. The character of Rishi Kapoor, who played the dean of the institute, had a crush on the coach. After more than a decade since the film released, Roy has revealed that he had to let go of a chance of acting in the Oscar-winning Hollywood film Zero Dark Thirty as its dates were clashing with that of Student Of The Year.

Speaking on The Kapil Sharma show, Rohit revealed, “I got the offer for Zero Dark Thirty and that too without any audition. They said, ‘We don’t need an audition since Kathryn Bigelow (director) has seen your work and she wants you in the role.”

But Karan Johar’s team wasn’t ready to adjust the date. “Since their film (Zero Dark Thirty) is scheduled, that can’t be moved. We cannot tell them, ‘Agle saal aana jaise ye Kartik bolta hai (A joke about Kartik Aaryan, who was also present in the show)’. So, Karan had my dates. I asked them, not Karan but his team, and I said, ‘It’s a big event for me to work with an Oscar-winning filmmaker’. But they said, ‘No, it’s not possible, we cannot release the dates.’ So, I said no to Zero Dark Thirty,” said Roy.

Sadly, Roy was later caught between neither-here-nor-there situation. When he called up the SOTY team to ask about the shoot, they told him, “We are not doing that film right now.” Roy added, “So, neither did they let me do that (Zero Dark Thirty) nor did they shoot for their film. It was the biggest bummer of my life.”

Starring Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton and Chris Pratt, among others, Zero Dark Thirty was about a group of CIA officials hunting down the most dreaded terrorist Osama Bin Laden.

Student Of The Year was the launch for the film’s three lead actors, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra.
