The makers of Pratap, starring Amit Sadh in the lead, have recreated a jail in Bhopal as part of the film’s production design. Rather than relying entirely on existing locations, the team constructed a dedicated set to bring greater authenticity to the prison environment, which plays an important role in the film’s narrative.
Written and directed by Sachin Saraf, Pratap follows a decorated encounter specialist whose life takes an unexpected turn, eventually placing him on the other side of the law. With the story moving into a prison setting, the makers felt that creating a space specifically for the film would help establish the atmosphere required for the narrative.
The production team undertook the construction of the jail set in Bhopal, paying attention to its structure, surroundings and finer details. The approach also gave the filmmakers greater creative control over the environment, allowing them to design the space according to the requirements of the story.
Speaking about the decision, director Sachin Saraf said, “We wanted the world of Pratap to feel as authentic as possible. The jail plays an important role in the film’s narrative, and recreating the environment in Bhopal gave us the freedom to design the space according to the requirements of the story. A lot of thought and effort went into getting the detailing right because we wanted the setting to feel believable on screen.”
The specially constructed set was also intended to provide the cast with an environment that complemented the circumstances their characters experience in the film. The makers believe that the attention given to the setting would contribute to the overall visual treatment and help establish the world in which the story unfolds.
Pratap features Amit Sadh alongside Esha Deol, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Seema Biswas and Milind Gunaji. The film is produced by Pradeep Rangwani under the banner of UV Films and is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 20, 2026.
With the release date approaching, the newly revealed production detail offers a glimpse into the work undertaken by the team to recreate the film’s central setting.
