Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravie Dubey, producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana distributor Dil Raju attended the grand pre-release event of Ramayana in Hyderabad. The last speech of the day was by Yash and he requested people to support Namit Malhotra’s vision.
Yash said, “Anybody can make a movie. Anybody can dream of making a film. But only a few people will have that kind of passion, dedication, determination and madness. As Indians, I am telling you, we need to protect this guy (Namit Malhotra). It’s our responsibility because this man was comfortably doing business. I know what position he’s in. Everytime I met him in LA, he always spoke about one thing, ‘We all are doing so much here. Indians have done so much. But we should do it for our Indian film industry. We are winning Oscars. But I am not happy. I want our industry to be placed at that level. That is the day we’ll happy’. This is what he said.”
He added, “That was the day I decided to collaborate with him. I told him, ‘Namit, let’s go. Let’s do whatever it takes because that’s the most important vision. Yes, I’ll play Ravana. Yes, I’ll be the producing partner. Dekha jaayega kya hoga’. From that day, this man has given me all the respect. He’s always taken more care than me.”
Yash then remarked, “He has made a gamble. He has put his reputation, his money and everything at stake to put this film on a global platform. If people like cinema, they’ll talk about it. But please don’t try to find small faults in the VFX. It’ll never happen again. If we lose people like him now, we’ll go back many years. So, let’s watch Ramayana with an open mind. He has all the right intentions. When it comes to any criticism or correction, he has always taken it in stride and tried to make it better.”
Ramayana releases in cinemas worldwide on November 5.
