‘Luck by Chance’ moment for Ishita in PKP : Bollywood News

In Luck By Chance, the central protagonist played by Farhan Akhtar got an opportunity to play a lead in a film being made by a director (Rishi Kapoor) out of sheer luck. Though it did sound far fetched, in Bollywood parlance this indeed was a lucky story of some select few newcomers. Today, debutant Ishita Sharma could well say that this is her own story, courtesy a similar episode that was repeated in her life when she bagged the part of one of the leading ladies in Pyaar Ka Punchnama.

Informs a source attached to the film, "There were number of girls who had participated in the audition for the leading lady opposite Divyendu Sharma (the loveable bespectacled young man in the film). The makers were struggling to find the right personality and it seemed like the wait would have to continue for long and in turn also adversely impact the film's schedule."

This is when a new unknown girl stepped in for the audition. However, if one thought that the wait was over here, it wasn't really the case. Reason being that this girl too couldn't make the cut.

"However, as luck would have it, there was this guy who had come for the audition. A girl from Delhi tagged along with him as she wanted to visit the city. She didn't have any intentions whatsoever to act though", continues the source, "When (producer) Abhishek and (director) Luv spotted her, they thought that she would just be the right girl for the part. The girl was Ishita Sharma."

Not to be mistaken for the namesake girl who was earlier seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dulha Mil Gaya, Ishita was game for it when asked to audition for the role.

"She got rejected though in her first audition", laughs Abhishek, "We thought that bas ab toh kuch hope nahi hai. We will have to start all over again."

However the film's cameraman felt that Ishita deserved another chance and convinced the makers to do a test shoot with her.

"This time around Ishita passed with flying colours. She was looking every bit the part we had in mind and now it was a matter of grooming her to become an actress", says Luv, "This is where I had to step in. However, the biggest relief for us was that we had now at least crossed the biggest hurdle of the right casting. Do you know that she was the last actor to be cast for the film?

Also starring other newcomers Kartik Tiwari, Rayo Bakhirta, Nushrat Bharucha and Sonalli Sehgall, Pyaar Ka Punchnama releases on 20th May.
