Vijay Deverakonda spoke about his decision to keep cameras away from his personal space during his wedding with Rashmika Mandanna, explaining that he wanted to be present in the moment with his friends and family rather than feel conscious of being filmed. He shared these details while speaking to Karan Johar on an episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9.
During the conversation, Vijay recalled how he was particular about maintaining privacy at the wedding. He explained that he did not want the camera crew to interrupt him or direct him while he was on stage with his loved ones. He also pointed out that nobody had phones at the time, allowing those present to remain engaged in the occasion.
Talking about his instructions to the team filming the wedding, Vijay said, “First of all, nobody had phones. So everyone was present, and the team that was shooting the wedding, I was like, nobody talk to me. Don't come and say, 'Sir, I need to see you. Sir, can you turn this way?' I don't want to see anyone on stage other than my friends and family.”
Vijay explained that a small team was assigned to film the wedding and that they respected the couple's personal space. According to him, the crew did not intrude on their moments, allowing the celebrations to unfold naturally.
He added that this approach helped everyone feel comfortable rather than conscious of being watched. “So I think you felt... like you were amongst friends and family and doing your thing, and you didn't feel watched and you didn't feel conscious about anything. You could just be in it,” he said.
During the interaction, Vijay also spoke about his long-standing friendship with Karan and the interesting conversations they had shared over the years. The discussion then moved towards Vijay's views on commitment, with Karan observing that the actor had previously seemed unsure about being ready for it.
The conversation offered a glimpse into Vijay's preference for keeping personal moments intimate, with his focus on spending time with loved ones rather than being directed by cameras during the celebrations.
