Adlabs sets up media BPO; targets the international market

Adlabs Films, a Reliance ADAG company, has announced the establishment of one of the world’s largest digital restoration and content processing facilities in the world. The BPO is targeted at the international market and will comply with standards of the MPAA (Motion Pictures Association of America), the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The facility, spread over 90,000 sq ft, will increase the headcount to 1,200 from the current 300 within a year. It has already received an order from the state owned National Film Archive of India, Pune, for digitization and digital restoration of 1000 films.

Over the last 4 months, Adlabs has also successfully transmitted several films over its optical fiber network to distribute movies in the US, the statement said. This is also expected to aid the newly set up facility.

“The globalization of media services is well underway. Adlabs is uniquely positioned, having significant and several years of experience in handling film media in various formats. Coupled with the optical fiber network, the comprehensive services of the media BPO enable a distinctive and complete to our worldwide clients,” said Adlabs Films CEO Anil Arjun.

The services of BPO include: restoration, encoding, transcoding, compression authoring, format and standards conversion, duplication and dubs, Meta tagging, repurposing/versioning, QC and broadcast logistics and archiving.
