Runway 34 has seen a drop in collections on Monday as the figures went down by about 20 percent as compared to the opening day. According to our early estimates, the Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan film has collected in the range of Rs. 2.50 to 2.65 crores on its first Monday.
This takes the four day total of Runway 34 to Rs. 15.50 crores. While the film is showing a steady trend, these are not so encouraging figures for a feature film riding on the face value of someone as big as Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan, that too in the festive week of Eid. There will be a spike in collections of Runway 34 on Tuesday on account of Eid holiday and the film might show another healthy hold on Wednesday.
The first week of Runway 34 is expected to be around Rs. 25 crore and it is headed towards a lifetime total of Rs. 40 crores. The issue with Runway 34 is that the style of filmmaking appealed to a very limited and niche section of audience. The talk in the target audience is pretty decent but the issue is the film has very limited takers in the Hindi cine going audience.
