The Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 2 which takes the story of the Salgaonkar family forward hit screens yesterday. After garnering positive reviews from the critics and highly favourable feedback from the audience the business of the new release started off on a high note. In fact, while early estimates predicted around Rs. 14-15 cr. opening day, Drishyam 2 managed to draw in Rs. 15.38 cr. Now on its second day running, the film has seen an increase in footfalls as compared to its first day.
As per reports, morning and early afternoon shows have shown a 40 percent growth over yesterday for Drishyam 2. This staggering increase in patronage is attributed to the fact, that film enjoys great recall value from its first instalment which wowed the audience. This coupled with the fact that Drishyam 2 also features the trademark suspense which worked magic for the first release, has gone a long way in cementing the new releases’ position at the box office.
Going forward, while the morning and afternoon shows of Drishyam 2 have indicated a highly positive response, early trends indicate equally huge footfalls over evening and night shows. With such incredible trending Drishyam 2 looks set to cross the Rs. 19 cr. mark or for that matter even the Rs. 20 cr. mark on its second day.
