The Shahid Kapoor led action thriller Deva has taken a poor start at the box office in India. According to early estimates, the Rosshan Andrrews directorial has collected in the range of Rs. 4.25 crores to Rs. 4.75 crores, much below the projected expectations in the vicinity of Rs. 7 crores.
The film was a no-show almost everywhere, with mass belts recording minimal occupancy. Shows at some cinema halls in mass belts were cancelled due to lack of audience, and this is a sad scenario for a feature film featuring a bankable star. The remake factor has hurt Deva, though more than that, the fate was sealed by the sub-par trailer, which had nothing in it to excite the audience. The lack of music also resulted in a dip of buzz for Deva.
The costs are on the higher side, and hence it was a must for Deva to record a reasonable opening, but alas, that has not happened putting the producers in a position of loss from the project.
