With Prem Ratan Dhan Payo striking gold at the box office and Bajrangi Bhaijaan shattering records all over, Salman Khan has now become the first and the only Bollywood actorto have clocked Rs. 500 crores in a single year at the India box office. But with PRDP still holding strong at the box office, despite newer releases, the film holds enough steam to continue its
solo run this week enabling Salman to come within striking distance of the Rs. 550 crores target at the India box office.
However, it isn't just this year that Salman has been topping the box office charts, in fact in 2012, Salman Khan's two releases (Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2) had grossed approximately
Rs. 353 crores at the India Box office whereas in 2014, his film Jai Ho and Kick combined collected approximately Rs. 346 crores. However with this year's collections, Salman Khan has broken his
own record.
On the other hand, when it comes to actresses, readers may recollect that Deepika Padukone had grossed Rs. 632.48 crores from her 4 releases Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express
and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela in the year 2013.
However with Aamir Khan, working on a solo release every year, chances are that Salman's record might go uncontested. But, all said and done, with Shah Rukh Khan gearing up with two releases next
year, he is well in contention to challenge Salman's supremacy. Now the big question is 'Will Shah Rukh Khan top Salman's yearly box office collections or won't he?', only 2016 will tell.
