Sachin - A Billion Dreams has done well in its first week with collections to the tune of Rs. 41.20 crore. Before the release of the film, this number as its lifetime total would have sounded fine as well since this is an experimental affair. However, for a docudrama to find audience that is bigger than what one saw for most of the quintessential Bollywood releases in 2017 is a feat fair enough.
This can well be evidenced by the fact that the film's first week numbers are seventh best of the year. In fact if one leaves aside much bigger affairs like Baahubali 2 [Hindi], Raees, Kaabil, Jolly LLB 2 and Badrinath Ki Dulhania then the numbers earned by Sachin - A Billion Dreams are next only to Half Girlfriend [Rs. 49.19 crore] which tells the tale.
That said, the manner in which the film collected over the weekend, one expected better hold over the weekdays. As a matter of fact, Half Girlfriend had held up better in comparison and hence though at one point it had seemed that Sachin - A Billion Dreams would come close to the Rs. 45 crore mark in its first week, the numbers have fallen short.
The film has fair showcasing in the second week which means it would eventually go past the Rs. 50 crore mark. However, this is where it would eventually stop over. Average.
