There was some respite for Mohenjo Daro as the film stayed stable, albeit on the mid-range, on Monday. Yes, there was an advantage of the Independence Day but then the film could well have steered off the course had it been totally rejected. The fact is that there is an audience out there which is catching the film despite all the noise around it, which means it is definitely not as bad as it has been made out to be. Yes, the lack of initial and growth over the weekend has hit this costly affair very badly. However, with the kind of numbers that have come on Sunday and then Monday, at least the film is fighting it out.
This was evidenced from 10 crore* more that came on Monday, as a result of which the collections currently stand at 40.90 crore. Since these were the bare minimum numbers that were expected over the three day weekend, the film is really struggling when you look at the overall picture. However, if one compares this with some of the biggest films that were totally rejected in the recent times [Besharam, Bombay Velvet], those associated with Mohenjo Daro have some silver lining in the form of collections coming in from pockets.
The film is still far away from anywhere being safe in terms of a positive Box Office verdict. However, the collections so far have made the journey interesting as the (partial) holiday of Rakhi (Thursday) could further pump up the collections to some extent. Moreover, one would closely monitor the collections coming in from today and tomorrow as that would decide how exhibitors decide to screen the Hrithik Roshan and Ashutosh Gowariker film in the second week.
