Yet another Hollywood release has emerged as a superhit at the Box Office. The Lion King has taken a very good start but still it was always going to be about the hold over the weekdays which would have decided its ultimate fate. This is what happened as the animation film held on to very good numbers right through the week which resulted in Rs 81.57 crores been collected.
However, what has been truly remarkable is the manner in which the film has held on its second Friday. After Thursday numbers of Rs 5.65 crores, the second Friday was superb with Rs 5.35 crores more coming in. This is fantastic as the fall is hardly there and it is also a clear indication of a major weekend ahead. It is pretty much a given now that over Rs 20 crores more would come in, and with some luck on its side, it could well push its way to Rs 25 crores more.
It isn’t as if there is no competition around it. There are two new releases in the form of JudgeMentall Hai Kya and Arjun Patiala where former has actually taken a fine start. Then there is Super 30 which is still finding audience. Even holdover releases like Kabir Singh and Spider-Man: Far From Home are finding footfalls as well. Still, for The Lion King to keep bringing numbers is nothing less than fantastic.
The film currently stands at Rs 86.92 crores and is now well on track to go past the Rs 150 crores mark. Clean superhit!
