Law of averages has caught up with Varun Dhawan. His October has not just opened on a sub-par note; it is now also his lowest opener ever. Though the film was never the kind that would have managed to score in double digits, it was still expected to go past the Badlapur Friday numbers of Rs. 7 crore. Unfortunately, even that hasn't happened.
Let's take a look at the Friday numbers of all Varun Dhawan releases till date:
Dilwale – Rs. 21 crore (Shah Rukh Khan as main lead)
Judwaa 2 – Rs. 16.10 crore
ABCD 2 - Any Body Can Dance – Rs. 14.30 crore
Badrinath Ki Dulhania – Rs. 12.25 crore
Dishoom – Rs. 11.05 crore (with John Abraham)
Student of the Year – Rs. 9.25 crore (with Sidharth Malhotra)
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania – Rs. 9 crore
Badlapur – Rs. 7 crore
Main Tera Hero – Rs. 6.50 crore
October – Rs. 5.04 crore
Even if one discounts the films where he had Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Sidharth Malhotra for company, Varun has consistently drawn audiences on the very first day as a solo lead. However with October, that hasn't really happened.
His lowest weekend till date was for Main Tera Hero which had scored Rs. 22.73 crore. Now October is in a real threat to fall short of that mark by quite a margin after its first three days.
